"No one is remaking "Labyrinth." That movie is perfect as it is."

For a few days, rumors have been circulating [http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/david-bowies-labyrinth-get-reboot-858487] that a reboot of 1986 classic Labyrinth was in the works. But now, screenwriter Nicole Perlman has taken to Twitter to clear up the confusion, warning people not to "fall for all the clickbait." Perlman appears to indicate that the film will be a "continuation," and stresses that it will not be a remake.

"Guys, please don't fall for all the clickbait," Perlman wrote on Twitter [https://twitter.com/Uncannygirl/status/691334213430161408]. "No one is remaking "Labyrinth." That movie is perfect as it is."

"Labyrinth is my favorite film from childhood, so I share your concerns that any continuation of the world be handled with love and respect," adding [https://twitter.com/Uncannygirl/status/691036950074032129] "Henson Co & I started talking in late 2014, so the timing of these rumors is so upsetting. I would never seek to profit from Bowie's death."

Can't have Aladdin without Robin Williams, just as you can't have Labyrinth without David Bowie.

Labyrinth is a fun little cultural oddity, but I never really got the appeal. I remember seeing it as a kid and frequently getting it and movies like Neverending Story confused, lol.

Incidentally, can we please all stop referring to remakes of single movies that never had any sequels or spinoffs as "reboots"? You can't reboot a continuity that didn't exist.

I dunno. The movie could have its story built around his absence.

Maybe The Goblin King has left the Labyrinth and not returned, and his underlings are unsure what to do. With Jareth gone, one of his goblins has "temporarily" taken over as acting Goblin King, and is beginning to abuse his power. Another group of goblins, unsatisfied with this new regime, decide they need to find a proper successor to Jareth, when they hit on an idea: Toby Williams should be the new Goblin King.

Toby Williams is now like 27 years old and has just had his first child with his wife, though they're struggling financially. He has recurring dreams of his time spent in the Labyrinth as a baby; His sister Sarah as consistently denied any knowledge of the events of the first film, claiming it was just a very vivid dream. Something something the goblins recruit him to free the Labyrinth of the new temporary goblin king and to take the crown for himself.

Maybe his own child is kidnapped and brought to the Labyrinth, with Sarah and Toby's wife following into the Labyrinth. Maybe Toby and his family decide to remain in the magical world as the new royal family.

Or something like that, I dunno, I'm not a screenwriter.

Isnt....isnt this clickbait?

I mean the title could have confirmed she said no new movie in the works, but instead it teased news about Labyrinth, with clicking onwards required to get the actual story. Thats special.
