It's a RPG term. When you try to use speech to convince a NPC to do something, you have a speech check (Actually, any skill based challenge has a skill check appropriate to the challenge.)JaredXE said:Why should they check their speech?
You're right. But, Nigeria is also in Africa. And everyone knows africans are so close to death, as to be walking corpses.AceDiamond said:Yeah it's not like Nigeria is the 8th most populous country in the world or anything, or twice the size of CaliforniaJaredXE said:Oh noes, the tiny country of Nigeria doesn't like a commercial.
That's it, Sony is going to go under.
Oh wait, it's both those things.
Anyway I'm not sure what to make of this. I mean yeah it was a dig but on the other hand...Nigerian Banking Scams
Also it's incredibly hard to get Sony to ever admit they fucked up. Hell when people called them on the bullshit that was "All I want for Christmas is a PSP" they said "You caught us. I guess our dialogue was too funky!"
I'm fairly certain that anybody who was in World War I has died by now. If not, they'd be around 108 years old at this point, and I doubt there'd be more than two or three of them. And I don't think Sony has to worry about two or three 108-year-old men getting upset over something like that. They're in the clear.scifidownbeat said:Oh for the love of God.Citrus Insanity said:Just saw this commercial on TV, and it looks like Sony changed it.
"You can't believe everything you read on the internet; that's how World War I was started."
Now all the veterans are gonna get in a fuss. Although, I would think that the elderly market is infitesmally smaller than the entire Nigerian market. Hm, we'll just have to see.
So countries without nuclear weapons are unimportant? You do realize that anytime a country tries to acquire weapons, the United States stops them. So essentailly, you're telling me that America keeps other countries from being important. And no, not caring about Nigeria does not make you ignorant, not caring about them because they're not wealthy and don't have weapons of mass destruction does.JaredXE said:And speaking of ignorant....Pearson said:'Oh noes', the ignorant American doesn't care about other smaller countries that aren't bathing in gold and don't have Nuclear weapons. So I don't care about Nigeria....that makes me ignorant? I like how everyone jumped all over me trying to defend Nigeria. According to all of you, they're big boys...they can take it.
And yeah...they aren't all that important. Certainly not important enough for Sony to care whether they object to that commercial. Guess what, those Nigerian email scams exist, and poking fun at them is NOT in any way poking at Nigeria. But no, the 8TH LARGEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD*snicker* is attempting to garner a little credit by taking Sony to task and perhaps trying to put relevance into their country.
And yeah, they don't have nuclear weapons......that's kinda a big indicator of importance in the international arena. Look at the UN Security Council, they all have nukes. Rest of the nations.....eh, not so much. Maybe a few here or there they picked up cheap from Russia or America.
Because Nigeria is known for having the world's largest internet police right? The scammers claiming to be from Nigeria are infact American, so if they were to attack the scammers, they would be attacking us. We leads me to my next point, I am an American. I just don't like my ignorant countrymen who give off the "Americans-are-stupid-and-ignorant" stero-type.Mornelithe said:If Nigeria has a problem with it, maybe they should be attacking scammers who use NIGERIA'S NAME, in order to proliferate their schemes. This has nothing to do with America, as Sony is a Japanese company....dar. Oh yay, another non-American tossing the 'America's Evil' card. Bet you stayed up all night thinking that one up right?Pearson said:'Oh noes', the ignorant American doesn't care about other smaller countries that aren't bathing in gold and don't have Nuclear weapons. Truth be told, I don't really care about Sony's Nigeria joke, its the responses on this forum that disturbs me. The lack of empathy for "poor Nigeria" is offensive because it shows how incredibly self-centered America's youth is. As Americans, we should be helping the people of the world not ignoring them because they're the 8th largest country or because they don't have a lot of money or weapons of mass destruction. I find it depressing that this new generation cares nothing about the other people of the world, and I do not look forward to elections two or three decades from now.Mornelithe said:Your point is worthless, Sony is a Japanese company, not American. And taking the oh poor Nigeria route, isn't going to fly with me. Every country has it's problems, and it's their responsibility to take action against it. Period. If they don't _like_ the use of their name, in such schemes...they should be doing more to stop it. Period. Otherwise, roll over and turn a blind eye, just as they've been doing up until someone made a joke about it (a Japanese company...made a joke about it). But, yeah, by all means, throw the America's evil card, you'll get a great response and welcome from these forums for it.Pearson said:Because Nigeria is known for having the world's largest internet police right?
