Why are joking comments always tried to be passed as people or companies trying to undermine an entire country?

Give it a rest. No one thinks about it like the 'offendees' in question do anyway, and a one liner in an ad for a games console is unlikely to change someones opinion on something.

Huh, so that's why they changed it to "Bernie, you can't believe everything you see on the internet. That's how World War 1 got started."
You do realize that was MORE funnier.

The first joke had the person argue against believing stuff on the Internet, and pointed to Nigerian bank scams. A reasonable argument. Unfunny.

But this second joke argued that the Internet caused WW1. But the Internet couldn't have existed before WW1, and thus couldn't cause WW1, so the person himself was wrong in his argument. In fact, it leads to a question: Who spread such a stupid rumor that the Internet caused WW1? The Internet, of course. Cue the laugh tracks.

Oh noes, the tiny country of Nigeria doesn't like a commercial.

That's it, Sony is going to go under.
Yeah it's not like Nigeria is the 8th most populous country in the world or anything, or twice the size of California

Oh wait, it's both those things.

Anyway I'm not sure what to make of this. I mean yeah it was a dig but on the other hand...Nigerian Banking Scams

Also it's incredibly hard to get Sony to ever admit they fucked up. Hell when people called them on the bullshit that was "All I want for Christmas is a PSP" they said "You caught us. I guess our dialogue was too funky!"
You are on EVERY thread bashing Sony. Shouldn't you be doing something worthwhile?

Yeah I guess I should go get my degree oh wait I already did that. Wow I am so sorry I don't share your grand vision of the future where Sony is king or whatever. I wasn't even being that mean. I guess we should just pretend Sony is a company that hasn't ever done anything monumentally stupid or misleading. And we've always been at war with Eastasia.

Better question is how in the world you can pretend to have some sort of lifestyle high ground on me when you yourself are on an internet forum, telling someone to get a life. (irony, lol)
... and here we see the anti-fan troll in its native habitat, a gaming forum. They can have a variety of colored plumage, but their main feature is attempting to use facts they looked up on wikipedia or a graphics degree they scrounged up from a community college.
This one in particular will probably never mate, poor chap, seeing as his camoflauge is very poorly developed, even for his sub-species.

Also, they like to flaunt the fact they read 50 pages into the classic 1984, cuz dat thar maeks u smrt!
Halfbreed, I...I think I love you.

I think the real question here, is, how does Nigeria feel about candles?
The real question here is... how fucked are nigerians when they don't even have the internet obviously to recieve those random spam emails that are sent to every email in every language to understand the mans joke which had nothing to do with nigerians themselves, but infact was making fun of people who believe the spam they recieve on the internet that does originate from not just nigeria, but EVERYWHERE.

This is because of all those nigerian spam emails saying "I want to send you money."

Maybe if the Nigerian government made an actual effort to STOP the scammers, then they'd have a right to complain about this ad.

It's amazing people can be stupid enough to believe that those Nigerian prince scams are being sent from Nigeria,

example:

but then the Nigerian politicians are actually even stupider to demand apologies for a stereotype that wasn't even directed at them, making it seem like they really ARE the scammers. Sony knows those scammers aren't Nigerian, so why would Nigeria's leaders go and initiate the connection by making that assumption themselves?

Do they even realize they're making themselves look guiltier than they would be if they had ignored it?

Hey, if you think those emails are being sent from Nigeria I'm actually an alien from the planet Paradise where we grow diamonds on trees and I'll give you 100 tons of them if you'll help me pay for fuel for my spaceship.

Honestly, I find the stupid 'PlayStation' bit at the end of their adverts more annoying than their casual racism.
Since when did a country become a race?

It wouldn't be PS3 related if someone, somewhere, however insignificant didn't complain about it.
