I just had a funny thought Sony likely has more money then Nigeria, if they tried to sue couldn't they just hire some PMC' and invade? :p

Ya know taking cues from their games? ;)

They were ok at that... but once they got the notion that they knew something about gaming...
They've sold 24.6 million PS3s worldwide. 138 million PS2s worldwide.

I'm fairly certain they know something about marketing games consoles.

/Don't own a PS3.
//Loves my PS2.

Sony didn't apologise to George Michael, they're not going to apologise to Nigeria.

If Nigeria doesn't want a reputation as a country of scammers, maybe they should clean up their act. It's well-known that corruption in Nigeria isn't just some rogue elements but is a culturally endemic problem which affects all areas of Nigerian business and yes, even the government. Many government workers are complicit in 419-code scams.

Biafra tried that.

It went... poorly.

Sony - Pissing in the faces of their fanbase over and over again for years now.
Here, they managed, to wipe out most of their nigerian supporters in one sentence.
doesn't matter; they were probably playing pirated games on stolen systems.

I dunno Sony are pretty ruthless, I bet given the right motivations they could run a right nasty war.

If you are going to pick a state pick one that people might care about ;).

Although that was an informative lesson in Nigeria (weird to learn something on the escapist).

I wish the story had been about Kenya so I could have made a District 9 joke :(.

I suppose I'll run with "First District 9 in Kenya, now THIS!"
You really shouldn't, because District 9 is not set in Kenya. It's painfully obviously set in South Africa, and the plot is a science-fiction mirror of apartheid and an actual forced relocation from 'District 6'. The director is from South Africa, it was filmed on location in South Africa (specifically Johannesburg, which itself should be a tip-off considering you're dealing with Africa), and the main character might as well be walking around with a sign that says "I'm from South Africa!" the instant he opened his mouth (see also: His NAME).

How is it even possible to think District 9 was about Kenya?!!

So yeah, don't go around saying that or people will laugh at you for being astoundingly mistaken.

Back on topic: Face it Nigeria, it's far far too late to distance your country from 'Nigerian Scammers', you will forever be known for that and pretty much nothing else.
well my apologies. I watch the movie once when it comes out and don't recall everything about it. I hope your epeen is rigidly hard from being a jackass.

*Shrugs*

If people are stupid enough to completely judge a country because of one commercial, wouldn't it be a better idea to demand an apology from those people rather than from the creators of the commercial? Complete and utter whineage, this is.

you know, personally I don't think Sony NEEDS to say sorry, but why the hell not, you know? it certainly couldn't hurt them. if it makes Nigeria happy, just do it and get this whole thing over with

Just saw this commercial on TV, and it looks like Sony changed it.

"You can't believe everything you read on the internet; that's how World War I was started."

Dear Nigeria, we are sorry that your shit country is full of corrupt government and scammers looking to steal from innocent people.

- Sony
If they did that, it would be the icing on the cake and I'd offically convert to a Sony fanboy.
