Niko Bellic's Nationality?

I was recently having an argument with a friend over Niko Bellic's (GTA4's Protagonist) nationality. He thinks he's Russian, I was arguing Serbian but wasn't sure. Went to Wikipedia, which said he was Bosnian, which I had never heard before. No matter where I go, I find contradictory information, so what do you guys think/know?

The game doesn't really mention his nationality, though we know he's not Russian, somewhere in the Balkans is as specific as it gets. Now I have heard Serbian from many professional sources, but I always wondered where they got their information. Bosnian is certainly possible, but I don't know where whoever put that on Wiki got that.

So does anyone know, or atleast have some interesting theories? Anyone know what Rockstar says? Links to information would be appreciated.

I thought I heard him say he was Serbian. My friend, a Bosnian refugee, loves the little phrases they say in the game because he can understand them. Also he would hate you for saying that Copter400.

I thought he said he was Serbian too. Maybe he's a Bosnian Serb, i.e. born in Bosnia, but ethnically Serbian.

And Yugoslavia doesn't exist any more, but it used to contain Serbia and Bosnia.

He's Serboslabian... To be honest I think Rockstar made his nationality ambiguous on purpose, that way they wouldn't get a million "internet experts" leaving them nastygrams about how the actor's diction is wrong.

He's Serbian. I'm sure he says his nationality in GTA IV, but I cannot be screwed playing that game again just to find it. Correct me if I'm wrong.
