"If Dante, dressed as he was, walked into any bar outside of Tokyo, he'd get laughed out,"
-Yeah, as opposed to NOW ...he is SO much cooler now that he looks like he's about to start Cutting himself any minute. I wouldn't be surprised if they even snuck in a Kent or Malboro ad, just to "spice-up" their Revenue ...I mean Gameplay
"Ninja Theory creative director Tameem Antoniades, who some have pointed out looks like the new Dante (which he claims wasn't intentional)"
-Oh, NOW things are starting to make Sense. Apparently Ninja Theory's idea of "cool" is inspired from their Boss looking into a Mirror and going: "Nah... I think he needs to look more Emo" >
"What Devil May Cry did when it launched was it brought everything that was great about action cinema like the fashion, music -- it was like a cultural melting pot -- and I feel like now, for Devil May Cry to have that same impact, it needs to draw on new things. New music, new ways of cinematography, new fashion."
-Are you Sure this guy's even a Game designer, and not say... one of those cheesy Hollywood agents.
Either-way, I think he's got his Demographics chart upside-down. The DMC Series wasn't created for rich spoiled Emo kids or even the Japanese pop-idol Crowd. If it was, it never would have made it out of Japan to begin with.
No, DMC was made so that Everyone could enjoy it, whether for it's innovative Gameplay, eye-candy Graphics or ...well that's about it.
Speaking of which, when asked about Hideki's newest character Bayonetta, about weather or not he thinks THAT looks cool, he responded:
"Personally, I don't. I love the game. I think it's awesome. It's taken everything -- it's just gone to a total extreme. But in terms of, 'Do I think it's cool?' No, not at all. I think it's caricatured and over-the-top and very 'Japanesey,' and for that absurd style it does that really well, but that's not what I want."
-I Rest my Case
[Update]:
" It seems that one of the new things that has inspired Dante's redesign is the recent reboot of the James Bond series."
-Yeah, and everybody just LOVED to see that Movie ...that's why it was a complete box-office Flop.
And calling something from 2006 a "recent reboot" just seems awkward :-/
