See, now that right there is a more mature response than 80% of the current fanbase. As I said, I don't mind you guys being worried for the game, I would be to. But outright condemning the game, blatantly saying that you will never be persuaded (not saying you said that, but others have) is just being immature about the whole thing.
Well that's not what I do, hell I don't even condemn CoD. To much gamer in me :p I want to see things succeed, I want the industry to flourish. But at the same time I will admit I do loathe/hate CoD (I may not like it but more power to you if you do)

I honestly don't think i'll buy this game, sure right now it's for petty reasons mostly, but honestly nothing impressed me from that trailer. I expected something, well just something more from it, and yes I know this is one of the first few trailers but I think i'll just go back and play either 3 or 4 (probably 3 so I can start challenging myself again).

I hope to be proved wrong, I really do but right now I honestly just don't see it being a successor to DMC
And I will reiterate, that is perfectly fine. I'm pretty impressed that you could step back and look at your own reactions, you sound more reasonable than everyone else at least.

If you don't want to buy the game, don't buy the game. Like I said, it's perfectly understandable to be worried and express concern over the game. But, well, you know, it's just insane to be this rabid about the whole thing.

Having played Heavenly Sword I thought I'd give them a chance. Enslaved, however... I can't imagine the fighting engine even coming close to Dmc3. Still, first I gotta play it before I jump to conclusions. Their games have a certain appeal that's rare in games.

Dante always kind of looked like a transsexual to me and since, as far as I know, being a cross dresser was never part of his character history, I can't really see where the problem is with this new interpretation of the character. It's a reboot right? Doesn't that imply changes to certain themes and tones? It's not like they're changing the character mid-series. The original Dante's story was finished. This is a completely new story.

But then again I've never really been a fan of the Devil May Cry series to begin with so maybe that's why I'm not really up in arms about it. I suppose if Valve made Gordan Freeman look like Stevie Nicks I'd probably be a little upset too.
Apt comparison there. They wanted to make a series to appeal to gamers that read Twilight and love it (yes, they exist).
So you're telling me that new dante resembles edward cullen
Yeah not seeing it really at most he looks like a stereo typical trouble youth with dark past
O.T. Well I'm all up for alternate character interpenetration but all I gotta ask is how far back will we go they can go forward plus why don't you just reboot the second game if it was that bad you know have it be a true sequel to the first game (not like continuity would be screwed up it's already kinda confusing)

Ah of course. A character design you don't approve of that looks young and it must be like Twilight!

Of all the anti-reboot arguments I've heard this Twilight one has to be among the stupidest.

And I have to say, even though they don't look exactly alike it doesn't mean they don't look similar. They do. And what ColdStorage said about the "model" style cheekbones is part of what pisses me off.
Why does he look like a skinny model? And why are people saying he looks punk? I mean... I get it with the black hair and wife beater shirt but if they wanted punk, go with this [http://dark.pozadia.org/images/wallpapers/95775386/Punk/Punk%20Rockers.jpg], not this [http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_lt-gufl-qiY/ScaAi402DrI/AAAAAAAAA9I/VOc5D0uYGMI/s400/n578990136_4534778_9157.jpg]
Funny, really, I would say that the original Dante looks more like the second link you gave me. The new one looks like a more gruffer version of the second one, to me anyway.

Do I want to like it? Thats a stupid question of course I do its a "Devil May Cry" title and I've loved the franchise from the start, unfortunately for me however this doesn't look at all close to the others...including DMC2.

Do I like the skunkhead new Dante? Fuck no...but thats not keeping me from buying it, every trailer of it lacks the feeling of fun devilhunter which WAS Dante and is replaced by...I dont know...full on demon killing?

That and the fact Tameems a complete asswhipe who doesnt deserve a cent from me, even if by some miracle DmC interested/amazed me I wouldn't buy it first hand...really hope he doesn't take control of any of my other favorite franchises T_T

I think you can make an interesting story of Dante before he had taken any moral stances and could have gone either way

Fuck you ninja theory. You have no right to sit there and act like you know what my opinion is. I don't liek dante's new look but thats not why I don't like your game. You have essentially said 'fuck you' to all the DMC fans. You have HALVED the fram rates of a game that has always been 60. And so far this game doesn't look like it will have any of the of witty fun attitude of every other DMC to date. I surely hope you don't fuck this up ninja theory because if this game bombs, you won't be doing buisness with another gaming company till you can make up for this loss with a few DAMN good original titles. Good luck assholes. Enjoy the burden of proof.

But, I didn't think Dante was supposed to be brooding and punk looking. I just thought he was supposed to be cool looking. To me, the new Dante looks like a model who's trying to look punky. He's skinny, has short black hair, smokes and looks like a crack addict.

That's fine if you're going for that sort of theme in game but... two problems here. One is that Dante was supposed to be a fun character. No real seriousness to it and he's a bit of a goofy sort of character and he knows it. The new one looks like he's trying too hard to be "badass" and the smoking, to me makes it look even worse. Then you make him look hardened and dirtier but somehow still younger just doesn't work for me.

Then second... well I covered this but the dark and gritty theme that it looks like they're going for isn't what was prominent in the originals. Yeah, I get that it's a reboot but it looks like all they did was make a game, realise it plays like Devil May Cry and slap the name on it. Same with Heavenly Sword. That game played exactly like God of War and even looked like it. How they got away with that is beyond me >.>

I'm open to the idea of this but each new bit of footage just lowers my expectations and as I've said, that assclown developer isn't helping at all.

So he's saying we're too stupid to know what we like and that they'll be using a shitload of motion blur.
Ninja Theory, you're seriously disappointing me lately.

No Tameem, we are OPENLY wanting to like DMC5 but your involvement is making it very difficult, what with the self-insertion new design and the slower gameplay.

I honestly cant wait for this title to come out.

Ninja Theory have made some EXCELLENT games, have fantastic dedication to their craft with brilliant writers, faithful dedication to maintaining the DMC combat whilst upping the DMC world as a whole. I just don't see, at all, what people have an issue about with this.

DMC1 was great. DMC3 was better! But the other games we just appalling to my tastes and, if I'm to be truthful, Ninja Theory's style is getting my appetite good and wet.

I will judge the game for myself closer to the time but if I get to say only ONE thing about all of this assumption making people are throwing around like monkeys with their faeces at the local zoo on a school trip, it is this: People thought Team Ninja working on Metroid was a good idea.

Nuff said.

Sounds just like Uwe Boll.
This right here.

He said that he was the genius of the film industry while everyone else in the entire world knew he was complete trash and ego, and I'm getting the exact feeling with this as well.

This response amounts to "I'm not listening, I'm not listening, sorry I can't hear you, but I know that you really like it even though you clearly hate what we're doing! No, a lower frame-rate will improve a game entirely based around fast flashy combat!"
It's not like I actually care, I'm not a huge fan of DMC, having only briefly playing 3 and not thinking much of it, but it annoys me when devs think they're right about something, even when the reaction to do the decision has been entirely negative. It doesn't reflect well on NT when you consider inFamous 2 (a game announced around the same time as DMC) had it's protagonist's design changes by Sucker Punch because of the fan reaction to it.

Secretly want to like it? Really?

It's hardly a secret. Of course we want to like it. Every fan boy and fan girl had their hopes set high when we heard this was coming out. We looked forward to it. Of course we wanna like it. Duh!

But that doesn't mean we're going to. He was right about one thing. Now that Ninja Theory has taken this, they're gonna have to prove this game is up to snuff. I wish them luck.

Well thats certainly one way to deal with criticism... i wish when i got something wrong at my job, i could just say "no, see, your opinion is wrong, you really do enjoy this"

That being said i have no take on dante's new look. i enjoy DMC for the gameplay so as long as that delivers they could give him a rainbow afro and replace his guns with literal pea shooters for all i care.

See, an interesting thought occurred to me, everyone is screaming around like a banshee, saying "Dante is ruined!" when, really, all we have seen is a redesign. Nothing on his character. People say "emo angsty teen Twitard!", but when has he ever shown characteristics of said emo/angsty characteristics? He looks much more like a punk-ass kid, and that's evident considering his fighting style.
My problem with this game so far is our main character "Angry Kevin" (Until i get some proof this is actually Dante, I'm calling him Angry Kevin..maturity be damned): The body structure is wrong, the hairstyle is wrong, the eye color is wrong (He has blue eyes, not brown/red), the hair color is wrong, even the facial structure is pretty much off. This isn't just 'they gave dante a different hairstyle and outfit', they've completely changed everything about his character to the point that there is nothing that can be seen of what he once was.

And while you are right, he hasn't shown any substantial characteristics/personality just yet you can get ALOT from body language and actions too: From what we saw in the first trailer, this dante seems to be acting more like a destructive borderline psychotic with more then a bit of a temper judging by what was seen (How he fought, and namely just the overall destructiveness of his actions). Granted, i realize the original Dante was far from a picture of perfect mental health but he never had a temper or anything that suggested he'd act anything like the guy in the trailer. When a character is not acting like he used to or even looking like he used too, it just isn't that character to me (Also, I'm aware Dante's wrecked some stuff and been destructive in his time but, he always made it look more sleek and stylish rather then going for all out brutality). No matter how hard you try, you can't turn an orange into an apple. Sure, you can try painting it red but it doesn't change the fact that it's still an orange.

Look, for all we know this game COULD be awesome: Hell, i outright want to like it. But, until we actually get some story/character details shown to the fans and myself...we can't do anything but make use of what we've seen to get an idea of what the games going to be like. Hell, we can't even make up our minds on whether this game is supposed to be a prequel or a reboot!

Although I'm really not liking the new Dante, from what I've seen the gameplay looks somewhat like the DMC we all know, so my doubt of this game has lowered a little. Just a little.

However, I'm still skeptical of these new changes. Like someone said, DMC4 really didn't answer anything family-related with Nero and Dante. A non-reboot continuation could have solved some questions. As much as I liked the game, the plot was just a cheesy "hero saves princess" theme.

I've been thinking though that this reboot probably takes place right after Dante's mom gets killed by demons, hence why he looks the way he does. Just a theory, though.

Ninja Theory, I hope you know what the hell you're doing, because I'm really not liking what your doing with this game.
