My problem with this game so far is our main character "Angry Kevin" (Until i get some proof this is actually Dante, I'm calling him Angry Kevin..maturity be damned): The body structure is wrong, the hairstyle is wrong, the eye color is wrong (He has blue eyes, not brown/red), the hair color is wrong, even the facial structure is pretty much off. This isn't just 'they gave dante a different hairstyle and outfit', they've completely changed everything about his character to the point that there is nothing that can be seen of what he once was.
How can a reboot, a reboot of which is supposed to change certain aspects of a game to appeal to a broader audience, get things "wrong" when everything is basically up for grabs?
Look, for all we know this game COULD be awesome: Hell, i outright want to like it. But, until we actually get some story/character details shown to the fans and myself...we can't do anything but make use of what we've seen to get an idea of what the games going to be like. Hell, we can't even make up our minds on whether this game is supposed to be a prequel or a reboot!
So it's better to jump to conclusions when we don't have much information to go by rather than be patient and wait for more info to piece up the truth?
It's fine to look at the current evidence, but people are making extremely broad assumptions on the character, personality, visual style, and gameplay based on what amounts to 2 minute of disconnected gameplay. People are going "It's so slow and not stylish at all!" when, at best, we've seen only 6-7 seconds of a full game clip, and trailers are made to emphasize certain parts. Not to mention that this stuff is still in
alpha, that's the stage where they add more stuff and tweak things.
Look, I've said it before, and I'll say it as many times as I have to;
it's okay to be worried. I understand, hell I even sympathize to an extent, about this thing. It's okay to be worried in the direction the game is going. I get that.
But it is
not okay to basically go batshit nuts over this. People are nitpicking in so many unnecessary ways, and the whole attitude towards Ninja Theory, I think, is just disgusting.

But, I didn't think Dante was supposed to be brooding and punk looking. I just thought he was supposed to be cool looking. To me, the new Dante looks like a model who's trying to look punky. He's skinny, has short black hair, smokes and looks like a crack addict.
I dunno, this is the part where personal preference starts muddying things up. I view the old Dante as a weird combination of a pretty-boy model who happens to kick ass, and the current one as an ass-kicker who happens to look slightly effeminate in a gruff body.
That's fine if you're going for that sort of theme in game but... two problems here. One is that Dante was supposed to be a fun character. No real seriousness to it and he's a bit of a goofy sort of character and he knows it. The new one looks like he's trying too hard to be "badass" and the smoking, to me makes it look even worse. Then you make him look hardened and dirtier but somehow still younger just doesn't work for me.
And he may very well
still be a fun character. He
looks like it, but his actual personality has never been shown. I recall someone showing a screenshot in the previous DMC thread on this where it showed Dante smiling. I dunno if that really helps, but there's more to the character than looks, and that's all we've really seen so far.
Then second... well I covered this but the dark and gritty theme that it looks like they're going for isn't what was prominent in the originals. Yeah, I get that it's a reboot but it looks like all they did was make a game, realise it plays like Devil May Cry and slap the name on it. Same with Heavenly Sword. That game played exactly like God of War and even looked like it. How they got away with that is beyond me >.>
If you are willing, I would recommened to at least
try Enslaved, if only to really gauge how NT might approach this (though from what I've seen, the new DMC doesn't seem to be that similar to it). I will say, while it wasn't especially deep or anything, it did have a satisfying feel to it. People are always citing Heavenly Sword, but I find it a bit unfair considering it was a launch title for the PS3 where NT didn't have much experience.
Who knows, third time's the charm?
I'm open to the idea of this but each new bit of footage just lowers my expectations and as I've said, that assclown developer isn't helping at all.
And that is
just fine. If the game doesn't look like it'll be good to you, then don't get it, simple as that. Just don't go off saying how the game automatically sucks and how NT should go suck a million dicks for
rhuining! the franchise or some BS.
