Oh so nintendo needs more money for releasing a direct sequel to a 12 year old that had no real need for a direct sequel. They just keep on pushing the stereotype that they are creatively bankrupt don't they.
captcha "braaains!" Oh dear god internet zombies.

Not to mention, pretty much every other console (Excluding the original GameBoy and GameCube/Wii sharing TP) has had two Zelda games

NES: Zelda, Adventures of Link
N64: OOT, MM
GC: Wind Waker, Twilight Princess
Wii: Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword
GBC: Links Awakening DX, Oracle of Ages, Oracle of Seasons
GBA: Minish Cap, Four Swords
DS: Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks

SNES is the only one that only had a single Zelda release. I guess it doesn't really mean anything.

What kind of stupid arrives at the statement "second best" when discussing A Link to the Past?

Read the fifth paragraph. An you are really contradicting yourself. You say that this is a sign that Nintendo has run out of ideas, then you say that the wall-walking/melding thing is not that big of a change, then you say that all Nintendo needs to do is keep the same hero-villain dynamic and change a few things to keep it fresh. Which is exactly what Nintendo is doing, but you are saying it isn't enough.
Inspired by but not remade in HD with a new weapon.

No its not a contradiction. The wall walking isn't a big change its an additional gimmick, which has been added on to make the game feel more fresh. But the truth is it's still the same old game with a gimmick and a graphics update.

As for the hero-villain thing I said the Zelda formula. Zelda games have to be about Link saving Hyrule from Gannon right? I said there are a number of ways you can present this formula, like a new setting, characters, items and to be fair gimmicks, but it needs to be more than just the one.

So if Nintendo adds a graphics update and a single gimmick I will say it isn't enough. Maybe it is for you but I like to see a series evolve. I like HD remakes and will be buying this game, but it doesn't stop the fact Nintendo have a habit of milking a things a bit too much.

Oh my god what did they do...

This looks like ****.
Agreed...

I actually would've prefered it if they pulled a Capcom and made this sequel with retro graphics like Mega Man 9/10. New mechanics and dungeons and all that goodness while not making it look like the game world is made of rubber would've been nice.

Not touching this one. I think that's the first time I've ever said that about a Zelda game...

As much as I liked aLttP, it was never on my sequel list. There were never any hanging questions or nagging thoughts about it. It'll be a good game. I mean, it's Zelda, but the only 'sequalness' I can see carrying over is the locations and maybe a few characters. If they were that desperate to bring back poofy hair Link, they could have just put him a new game.

Also, who cares about a hammer? Link's had megatons of hammers.

Also, slightly off-topic, but does anyone else really want Reggie to come and read them a bedtime story? He has the most relaxing voice in the world and he looks like a living Pixar character.

I'm sure I'll get angry hate quotes for this but;

C'mon Zelda games are all fairly same-y now we've been diving into same-y sequels of same-y games. Zing.

That said it looks really well made and it's neat to see that cool 'level changing' feature that was sort of underused in Rayman Origins. Sweet looking game.
i agree. i haven't even played any of the newer Zelda since TP (and i didn't even finish it) simply because i'm getting bored of that Zelda-forumla. And now a top-down Link to the Past sequel is coming and it really isn't helping me get back into the series.

Also... that guy's voice is so boring, sounds like a generic white guy announcer or something. kinda took me by surprise.

Fans are crying for aLttP remake or sequel, Nintendo gives them a sequel with completely new dungeons while saying it's in the same world.
How the fuck does that imply they are out of ideas?
They simply gave fans what they asked for.
Kira, Kira, Kira... you simply must accept that EVERY MOVE NINTENDO MAKES IS ALWAYS WRONG.

I have seen people actually criticizing them for offering backwards compatibility. And for not doing paid on-disc DLC.

ehhhhhhhhhhhh.

Much as I love Link to the past....This just seems unworthy of the title and they're implementing gimmicky mechanics for the sake of it.

I'm not going to buy a 3DS just for Link to the past.

What kind of batshit insanely priced places are you finding your 3DS systems? o.o They price dropped to $160 or so, they were never as expensive as you just said. I got mine at $150, got my XL a year later at $200

You're really telling me a topdown 2D Zelda game is going to benefit from 3D? Just keep telling yourself that, and please don't shoehorn in 3D stuff just for the sake of doing it.

I'm pretty sure every single Zelda game has implemented some sort of new idea or added a new element to the franchise, including this one by the looks of it.

It's official, I am buying a 3DS not only for Pokemon X or Y but for this game aswell!!
Same. I was going to buy 3DS eventually, just for Pokemon X or Y. But this gives me an added plus to getting the handheld. It might take me six months to save the money up to get everything, but I feel it will be well worth it.

------------------

Too all the people saying it looks bad, or that it's another rehashing no ideas left addition:

You people are really scraping the bottom of the barrel to find something to complain at Nintendo about.

Just face it that nothing they do will ever be good enough for you, because truthfully, you expectations are way too high.

Why totally remake the wheel, when the old one is just fine and can become better by just tweaking to still keep it interesting.

I guess I'm just a gamer with normal expectations and standards. I'm tired of the mentality that a game has to be practically and totally new and blow one's socks off to just merely make it purchasable and good to such people.

That's the problem though for such people, because that kind of change isn't enough for them. These days, such people believe a game has to be totally changed around and improved 100% in order for the developer/publisher to not be called a money-grubbing re-hasher.

It is sad, because it usually seems that such people are also the type that get mad at developers/publishers, when they take the route of innovating for the sake of innovation, change for change's sake.
