Nintendo Confirms Master Quest for Ocarina of Time 3D

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D will include the challenging master quest not found in the original version.

When Nintendo first started talking about wouldn't confirm [http://www.amazon.com/Legend-Zelda-Ocarina-Time-Nintendo-DS/dp/B003O6E800/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1299437064&sr=8-1] if any new content was being added to the classic N64 version. At GDC 2011, Conservative New Media talked to Nintendo assistant PR manager David Young and got him to reveal that the game will feature the inclusion of Ocarina of Time's master quest.

The master quest was first introduced in a Gamecube port of Ocarina of Time given away as a Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker [http://www.amazon.com/Legend-Zelda-Ocarina-Time-Master-Quest/dp/B0009XSMNA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1299437539&sr=8-3]. It's an altered version of Ocarina of Time with reworked dungeons and new puzzles.

For Zelda fans that never got their hands on the elusive master quest compilation, Ocarina of Time 3D could be the perfect chance to try it out. Young didn't reveal if players would have to unlock it or if it'll be available right from the start.

Ocarina of Time 3D also features improved visuals and menus that are always at the ready on the touchscreen, allowing easy access to items and potions. Nintendo hasn't announced a release date for Ocarina of Time 3D, but says it's definitely coming out in 2011.

Yay! Good news.

This is just what I needed after reading that insane Sony article.

So.... the original Master Quest and not the extended version that was originally meant for the 64DD? How.......lame. Hopefully they have more additional content than that, I mean it worked for Super Mario 64 DS....

I don't think it's going to persuade anyone to buy the game who wasn't already planning on buying it, but it's a good addition to those who already put the money down.

Hmmm this has me interested now, finally a chance to have another attempt at Master Quest. Makes me wonder what else (if anything) will be revealed.

It'd be awesome to see them handle this in a similar way to Mario 64 DS and have at least a few things which are new.

Maybe now they'll tell me what the fuck that random chest in the first dungeon that was sitting on tracks that couldn't be opened was for.
Also, that's my most valued gamecube game. It was fucking awesome. They added fire bats to the bit of the game where all you had was a wooden shield. ;_;

*EDIT*
Disappointed they aren't releasing Ura Zelda, though. Apparently they had pretty much finished it but never released it, so I don't see why they aren't.

Still doesn't mean jack shit until they remake it for their newest console. Ocarina of Time took me over three months to beat without a guide and the Master Quest took about three weeks. Just goes to show that Nintendo is one huge recycling factory.

What? When the bloody hell are they going to fix up that infuriating error where you don't get to thaw up the Zora Kingdom after finishing the water temple. Seriously, it's not even that hard to code, just give us a proper completed version of the game sans all those backdoors Nintendo left open for the 64DD game that never came to be.

I've been told that this version of Master Quest is going to be "re-mastered", to fix odd placements of items and other issues present in the original MQ.

Looking forward to seeing the cows pertruding from Lord Jabu Jabu. That was the highlight of Master Quest.

I didn't play it past the adult forest temple since there wasn't that much difference though. >_>

I have MQ with Wind Waker...I don't see how MQ was any "harder" then regular OoT, I actually completed adult Water Temple faster on MQ and found it to be way easier then on regular OoT.

I never really liked Master Quest though, I actually gave up on it near the end, since it didn't really add many interesting puzzles.

This makes me want to go dig out my 'cube and play through all the Zelda's again. That, or find a few hundred dollars on the ground with which I would purchase this and a 3DS. Whichever comes first

I never had a chance to play Master Quest, so this is definitely good news for me. If Nintendo Australia wasn't being a price gouging dick (Aussie dollar > US dollar, yet we still pay $100 more. Fuck that.), I would definitely get a 3DS and Zelda 3D. I'l' wait till a price drop or updated model with a longer battery life.

I am definitely getting this and a 3DS as soon as it releases. Money will BURN in my account until then =)
This news makes me so happy, I was quietly hoping they'd add this, making sure not to jinx it by asking for it..
