Nintendo Hypes us For E3 With Another Crazy Reggie Video

Reggie is bringing back the Nintendo World Championships for this year's E3.

Last year, Nintendo blew us out of the water with an amazing digital direct event [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghEhI4CJjAM]. This year, crazy Reggie is back, training for the Nintendo World Championships which will take place this E3 for the first time in 25 years. Check out the video in all its glory to the right.

Just for a refresher, the original The Wizard [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_World_Championships].

The new Nintendo World Championships will take place before E3, from June 14. Information on how to register will be made available soon, with qualifying confirmations starting at the end of this month.

Additionally, the video revealed that this year's Nintendo Digital Event will take place June 16 at 9 a.m. PT, and that Mario Maker will be playable at over 120 Best Buy locations during the E3 week - in much the same way that Super Smash Bros. was available last year.

Be sure to keep an eye on the official Nintendo E3 site [http://e3.nintendo.com/] for more information on the company's E3 presence.

People might not be the biggest fans of Nintendo right now but I do think that was actually a pretty funny video especially seeing that it came from a multi billion dollar company starring their american division's president. They have a sense of humour i like seeing

I guess this will bring a lot of people from a lot of places to next years E3 to compete in their old favorite games.
I wonder if they will get the best from back then to defend their titles? That would be freakin' sweet :D

Dammit Nintendo, I want Mario to be my spotter in the gym.

I believe it's a really missed opportunity that Reggie didn't earn any badges while training in the gym. Aside from that, I love the video.

I'd like to see the people from Microsoft and Sony take the piss the way Reggie and Nintendo do. You gotta respect that Reggie so openly enjoys and makes jokes of himself.

Nice one.
Back in the '90s EVERY American-only championship was a "world championships". I guess they liked the grandeur.

OT: That ending with Bill Trinnen had me in stitches.

Fifa WORLD Cup

In Brazil only.

Nice one.
Except that football is an established professional sport that has it's participants that play for teams earning 6 figures a week. Meaning, that once qualified, the national team of a country WWILL get the funding to attend and it will be a legitimate world cup following from hundreds of qualifying matched which are in fact held all over the world.

Your example here is... moronic, at best.

As for Miss Universe... well without the factual knowledge of life outside Earth there's no reason to believe there's anyone we're offending. I, as someone that doesn't live in America, can testify that there are other humans outside of America and therefore without proper qualifiers or chances to earn a place as a countries representative short of funding a £200+ trip to America off your own back I can't see it fair or right that it's called a "World Championships".

Nintendo own Pokemon, Pokemon tcg have paid for competitors from all over the world to attend the world championships every year for ages. They know how it should look.

Star Fox is already on the way. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/video-games/conferences/e32014/11663-Star-Fox-Wii-U-Coming-in-2015]

F-Zero... not so much.

Edit: Actually, I think the problem with F-Zero is that it overlaps too much with Mario Kart, and is less successful. So, probably not good odds on seeing a revival any time soon.

I doubt that Fifa pays for every team's accommodation, travel, equipment and training (why do you think they have sponsors?), so if that's the case it is quite similar. By your logic smaller or less economically developed countries without the money to fund their own national football team can't go (same with many Olympic events, not everyone has a competitor for every sport), therefore Fifa can't call the World Cup the World Cup. So yeah, not............. moronic, at best.

It's a World Championship because anyone in the world can join, not because Nintendo personally pays for hundreds of hopefuls to have a crack at their qualifiers.

Nintendo own Pokemon.
But they don't run Pokemon, especially the TGC seeing as that was released on iPad before Nintendo even hinted at going mobile.

I don't see why you're so offended with this. If Nintendo was offering millions to the winner then sure but I seriously doubt that's the case, the most the winner will get is a trophy and some unique memorabilia. You're getting offended over what is going to be a silly little homage to one of Nintendo's 90s events. There is no need to be so cynical over everything, I've seen it too much on this site lately.

No fifa don'y pay but do you not think they can actually afford it? Professional sports doesn't compare to an amateur video game tournament. also, as i said, they have qualifiers. I actually put that in the previous post. again, moronic.

Again, if you don't really offer qualification or representation for different countries it's not really a world championships. I could hold a tournament next week for anything I want and call it a world championships. It's just wrong.

Also it means some stupid jackass get's to go around claiming to be "Nintendo World Champion" and only actually had competed against other Americans. That's nothing short of crap.

Who, Nintendo or Fifa?

So Fifa is fine if they don't pay for every single 200+ nations to have their own accomodation, top-quality kits and training grounds yet Nintendo is bad for not paying for people from every country to come to LA to take part in their silly tournament? Oh, and calling me a moron doesn't make your argument any better.

Again, if you don't really offer qualification or representation for different countries it's not really a world championships. I could hold a tournament next week for anything I want and call it a world championships. It's just wrong.
It's a world championship because everyone from the world can compete. If, by your logic, you wanted to be really pedantic you'd have to call it the '50m away from L.A. area Championship' because a lot of people wouldn't be able to afford the gas/flights to travel across America. Yes, you could hold a tournament next week and call it a world championship if you let anyone in the world join. Whether people would join/take it seriously however, is another matter entirely.

Also it means some stupid jackass get's to go around claiming to be "Nintendo World Champion" and only actually had competed against other Americans. That's nothing short of crap.
Why are you so angry that you're even insulting the winner when the game hasn't even started yet?

no, you're completely missing the difference between a multi-million tournament with players that make many times more than the average yearly wage a week to a next to earnless tournament of video games. If you hadn't guessed, they aren't comparable.

If it's a World Championships it should have involvement from more than 1 country. That's, like, a basic requirement for it to be a world championships.

LA? So Nintendo LA Championships? North American Championships? It's not that unbelievable or unacceptable to call it that.

It's annoying because... well actually I think I made the reason it's shitty to call it a world championships already. if you aren't on board, guess that's that. may as well call it quits.

Poor Bill... Never saw it coming...

Also, that was fucking hilarious! I wonder how Reggie survived the over-redness of the Virtual Boy... unless his training made him immune to its redness...

Huh... all this arguing and here I was thinking that the tournament was just called "Nintendo World" because it was a goofy nickname. Like how WWE uses "WWE Universe". I've been putting emphasis on the wrong word.

I should probably start paying more attention.
