I'd be more excited if they released a bundle based off of all the pokemon games from red and blue through to the end that could be played in succession (with carry over pokemon).
That could work, but why would Nintendo do that when they could make even more money re-releasing them all seperetely?

Hopefully with these remakes they will stop adding new pokemon. Plus I believe they have run out of metals/gems to name their games off of.
Dude, the next new ones will be oil and natural gas of course.

But good news about the remakes, seeing as ds can't play Game Boy games I won't have to take more handhelds than I need to on trips

Fuckin' A, might have to go out and buy myself a DS now. Gold is definitely in my top favourite games list.

I see no reason to get excited about this. Yes I loved Pokemon Gold to death, but folks: it's just a remake, just the old game with a new coat of paint. This really fits in Nintendo's latest, uncreative (and shamefull) trend. I don't like this one bit.

I just came.

Gold/silver were the best, but thanks to those stupid batteries mine dont work anymore.
Is there anyway to replace the batteries or otherwise keep the save on the game as I am very proud of my crystal pokemon.

Oh and the only reason I am happy about this is there will be an event to celebrate the release which means I will be able to get the rare pokemon I have missed from before.

Why bother really? Maybe if the graphics were better and there were more avatars to choose from. Other than that, I think It'd just be the exact same.

Wow, lots of love for this idea. Clearly I'm the odd one out. All pokemon games are basically rereleases of the previous ones to a certain degree. Granted for the DS the updated the graphics system for the world quite a bit but the gameplay hasn't changed. Mostly it is just a spreadsheet and texture pallet swap for each new game.

Granted they change the stories and such, but really who plays Pokemon for the story.

All that said, I enjoy the pokemon games and have three or four different ones (Blue, Emerald, Diamond, and maybe another), but I don't see the point of being worked up on a remake for this type of game.

I don't even think I would buy it. Gold/Silver/Crystal are like $5 now and it's not like there is anything stopping you from trading pokemon from it to other games (though you would have to go through ruby/sapphire/emerald to reach diamond/pearl/platinum). Maybe I'd buy it if it was released for DS download and was pretty cheap, but if it was it's own new game, then it'd have to have a lot of updates.

I would be very pleased if I had even had a chance to finish Diamond and Pearl.
Man, I need to get my own DS.

You know what would be awesome? If in these remakes they made all of the original 251 catchable without traveling to California or New York. I can understand trading 'em, but really. Also, it would be awesome if they made the game really really hard to Gameshark.

YES NINTENDO DOES GIVE A FUCK ABOUT THEIR CORE AUDIENCE! :D

I might get this when it comes out. Mine stopped working after the batteries died on me (the battery backup)

There's no reason for them to remake the game.

IIRC FireRed/LeafGreen gave people the option to get certain pokemon not available in the newer versions.
Of course, with Nintendo's recent lack of creativity in pokemon, I'm not going to be surprised if they're only going to remake Gold/Silver.

This BETTER be a G/S remake, or I'll go after them with crobat and dunsparce!

Of course, they're going to completely ruin the somewhat serious mood of G/S/C with their bright colors and painfully peppy atmosphere...

Ah crap, this means I'm gonna have to buy a DS really soon, so there goes all my money for the year.

Also, YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! A remake of the greatest Pokemon games ever!
