Nintendo Shuts Down Fan-Made Zelda Movie

I enjoyed the movie when I saw it. What I don't get is that why did Nintendo wait untill AFTER the movie's release to put a stop on it instead of putting a stop to it while it was still being made? IMO, Nintendo just wanted to see how popular the movie got before they pulled the plug on it. Now I'm going to have to find a torrent in order to see it again, and you know there's one floating around somewhere. I might as well hurry and find a way to save TWBB before that gets shut down. My only thing is that hasn't Nintendo ever heard of the Free Use Act (or is it the Fair Use Act?)

I don't know why everyone is so pissed at Nintendo. What did these guys expect anyway, using source material that they hadn't paid for the right to use? I understand it was a fan movie and took a lot of effort but they were practically begging for it to be shut down.
At least Nintendo let them keep it up for a couple of weeks.

Another reason for me to dislike Nintendo.
I don't think Microsoft has pulled as many dick moves as them and everyone picks on Microsoft.

I think people are missing something, on their page they note that Nintendo was aware of the project and allowed it to be shown and distributed through the internet.

This guarantees that the files will be out there and available for free to those who want them, something which I doubt everyone at Nintendo missed out on.

I cannot for the love of me understand why Nintendo didn't hire these kind of people.
These people obviously do have a grasp of storywriting in the Legend of Zelda Universe and it would certainly be to Nintendos advantage if these people were on the same boat as them.

The time it took them to make the film is equal the time it takes for Nintendo to make a Zelda game so why the hell make this kind of dick-move when the movie was out? Nintendo had 4 years to stop the project in its making.

You'd think they would like people advertising their franchaise.

Lol at all of the people saying they'll never buy Nintendo products again. These guys entered someone else's intellectual property into film festivals and premièred it in cinemas. Any company would have done the exact same thing.

And this is the internet, stop crying and torrent it.

Fuckers! I was about to start watching it!
P.S. Bet they'd have a field day if they found out about There Will Be Brawl.
Parody and satire based shows are far different then creating a film entirely based on somebody else's work that goes scene for scene.

If they were trying to make money from it, they disserve to be shut down, if they weren't, Nintendo are tossers, but I love reading all this fresh outrage and now Nintendo have become evil. Exactly when were Nintendo not evil?

The last few years or so when they were spending all their and your money on the video game equivalents of the kids rides outside the cinema? (Everyone seemed to think they were pretty sucky then).

When they were helping a witchhunt against their own industry because Sega were selling more games than them? Arguing against violent video games while producing a fucking bazooka for the SNES?

When they had just about every major third and second party developer in totally restrictive release deals just in case they produced more good games than Nintendo did?

Nintendo have been dicks since around the release of Donkey Kong Jr. They've never cared about you, they don't care about other developers, hell they don't even care about thier own (Gunpei Yokoi). Nintendo are, were and remain a set of bastards.

Nintendo just FAILED big style! This is a bad move, someone like valve would supported this big style.

Nintendo should have been flattered that a bunch of people would even care to make that much effort for a something they don't own nor will make any money off of, I certainly would be.

Are nintendo and their legal department one entity, just doesn't strike as something Shigeru Miyamoto would have banned.

Is it any good?
The writing unfortunately let the film down not helped by some ordinary acting, however, for a fan film overall I was quite impressed with the general quality. Maybe a tad long though.

Wow, awful lot of work went into that film.

Now heres a question, why can they pull the plug on real works of art like this, yet not pull the plug on all the Zelda porn that floats around the internet?
Seems weird
