Hey that's a pretty good deal for those people who bought the 3ds at launch and for everyone else it's a really affordable 3ds. It needs a stronger lineup though I mean Kid Icarus is the only really new game in that it's an really old franchise thats had it's genre changed. Also kid Icarus games? Like more than one?

They really want to move these 3DS units.
Not really, we got screwed out of $80 and are now having some old GBA games that pretty much all of us have already played (being enough of a Game Boy fan to get the 3DS at launch and all) tossed at us. It's bull.

As of writing this, I own a single 3DS game, and it's a remake of an N64 game. I bought this unit months ago, and had to wait months to get a single decent game, and it's a game that was ALREADY MADE YEARS AGO

Nintendo fucked up big time.
Aye. that does sound bad. I remember quite a few people buying a 3DS just to play megaman legends. That didn't turn out quite like the plan was set out to go down. I myself won't buy one until I've been given solid information on the rumor that a kingdom hearts game was going to be made for that handheld. Hopefully it's just a rumor cause I don't really want to buy a 3DS.
it's not a rumor it's kingdom hearts dream drop distance
Aww barnacles. Oh well. Hopefully by the time that comes out the 3Ds will have some games worth buying other than that? *sigh*

Depends on what sort of games you're after and what region you're in.

If you're in the US pick up SMT: DSO for the 3DS and Devil survivor 2 for the DS for very good SRPGS. (If you're in the EU like me you're out of luck)

What's this? People aren't flocking to the 3DS in droves? Well shucks maybe it has something to do with 3D being a gimmick that almost nobody wanted or asked for.
Oh,you mean the 3D you can turn off and just ignore? THAT 3D,well shucks I didn't know people gave so much of a shit about that kind of thing to not buy a 3DS,or maybe it was because the launch lineup sucked and all the big games (except Ocarina of Time) are still not out yet,or even it's because the 3DS has the worst battery life ever. No,No,it MUST be because of the 3D that you can turn off and never touch again.

Just because a system has a gimmick, doesn't mean it's the biggest issue.

EDIT: Whoops, forgot to insert my input on this pressing matter.
OT: Well that's good for me seeing as I need to replace my DSi and it's broken shoulder buttons, hopefully I'll find the paperwork for me to get my money back from the state and I'll be on my way.
Sure you can take away the 3D but that would kinda defeat the entire purpose of buying one. Nintendo is marketing this thing on the strength of the 3D integration and it's simply not working. Being able to turn it off does nothing to change the fact that the one big selling point to the system is a piss poor gimmick barely anyone asked for or wanted in the first place. So yeah it is kind of a big issue when the one thing that Nintendo is out there advertising is going over like a turd in a swimming pool with most people.

If they're slashing the price this much this fast, I'm only left with the conclusion that Nintendo wants to sell as many units as they still can before the whole thing carshes and burns.

And this doesn't inspire much trust for me to buy one, even if it was only a 100 bucks.

I never cared about the 3ds. I still don't. My DSLite still works great, for as much use as it gets, I don't need another handheld. The Vita does look interesting, but it will be up to exclusive titles to win me over. I just don't do that much handheld gaming. If I'm out and about and want to do something it is usually reading unless there happens to be a particular game I wanted that came out recently. Then my handhelds sit and collect dust until the next one. They are few and far between. Adding 3d to it -- Didn't care then, don't care now and hope it all bombs (including the TV side of it).

I remember how they raved after the first month how well the system was doing. But then silence. A deathly stillness that you never see except when the bottom has fallen out from beneath you.

I don't want Nintendo to die. I just want a reason to play their games again. I never owned a Doorstop64, I think I actually own more GC games than Wii ones, but that could be because my wife brought half a dozen into our library when we married. Wii would like to watch Netflix -- about the only reason that system gets turned on. And WiiU? I'm sorry, I don't see it. I don't understand the hype.

3DS -- we hardly knew ye.

Twenty downloadable games? ugh.. downloadable..
What else were they supposed to do? It's the easiest way to distribute games with assurance that they bought their 3DS before the deadline and it makes sure no one is taking advantage of them.

I happen to really like this idea. I bought a 3DS day one and was kind of upset when I heard the price was going down so much, but 20 free games is kind of a lot. At least they actually care about us enough to give us some free games, but now they've made it obvious to people who weren't already aware that they just need the money. Either way, I'm excited to see what games make it on the list.

I think the most interesting thing that it revealed is that GBA games are practically confirmed for the 3DS Virtual Console now.

But NES games? thats a bit questionable since they're already on the Wii's VC....i really hope that Ninty adds some sort of account based infastructure like the PS3 where you can link 5 devices (wherever PS3s or PSPs) and can use the games on both the Wii and the 3DS without buying it again.

Another thing to be worried about, what if Nintendo relies on releasing NES games on the 3DShop to stretch release weeks out with either bad games, or games that has already has a recent way of accessing, im sure that a lot of people who has a 3DS has a Wii too. :O

How is this underhanded? At all? Lowering the price significantly and compensating people who bought it already is pretty good. I dont know how you could be upset unless you bought a 3ds just now.
yeah haveing bought mine at the end of april Im a little upset but 10 gba and 10 nes games for free does have a value of about hmmmmmmmmmmmm $60+ so I guess it evens out, they just need to put more games up as the selection now is kind of limited but as long as they keep adding 2 new games a week it should be ok, also this seems like a bit of a hit to soney who probably intentionally plans to sell the vita at a loss so they can say it costs as much as a 3ds, but now they cant say that anymore. By this time next year Im sure Ill be loveing my 3ds, but why must nintendo make me wate till chirstmas! All well they have made great handhelds so far and Im sure they know what their doing

I think youll see a link with the WiiU and 3ds for prices as the 3ds dropped the point system for a cash based one I can only assume the WiiU will do the same thus makeing it a bit easier to link acounts

I personally blame the weak launch lineup onto Capcom. They wouldn't get half as many people buying Street Fighter 3D if Zelda was out. And would promptly ***** and complain that people didn't buy their game and then go and do something like cancel Megama...oh that last bit happened.

People, also remember that Japan is still recovering from a huge earthquake. That itself probably delayed a lot of the games.

And remember folks. Nintendo's at its best when it's kicking and screaming for it's position.

I'm thinking this is a response to the Vita's price as well as bad sales. It's a good deal for everyone involved, and I'm impressed with that, good job Nintendo!
I also don't think it'll hurt them much, I have a feeling that that 250 price tag was massive overpriced just to cash in on the die-hard Nintendo fanboys.
Now I just wonder, will Mother 3 come out?

Nintendo has already proven they can't run the VC service worth a shit. Remember how hyped you were, pre-Wii, when you learned the Wii could play games from previous consoles? Who knew you would have to wait almost 5 years to play some of the best SNES game like Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy VI? Who knew that they would treat VC games just like they treat physical games (different releases for each country, there is no excuse for that when there is no manufacturing or shipping). Who knew they would make VC titles a guessing game instead of giving us release dates? Who knew they would lock the games to the console making them impossible for the consumer to transfer?

Now Nintendo... what did we learn?

never to release a console or handheld without a strong launch lineup containing our premier first party properties
The above is the SOLE reason I have yet to purchase a 3DS. facts are facts and Nintendo either launched too soon, or were holding back thier flagships for reasons beyond my ability to comprehend.

No Mario, no Zelda, no Metroid, and no Kid Icarus means I no buy.
It's the sole reason almost everyone hasn't bought yet.

I own it, I like it, but it needs games.

The trolls who mention 3D forget that that is hardly the best reason to buy it. The handheld itself is solid and is very very nice.

Also plan to get a Vita but I'll wait for the first price drop on that :p. Fool me once! :O!

I think it has more to do with all of the developers jumping ship than just making a quick buck. Nintendo wants long term sales on the console and the games, and if not enough people buy the console, nobody will want to make games for it.
