I got a Nintendo Switch for my birthday. I would have preferred PC parts, but need something for the kids I guess. What are some of the really good games on Switch? I have gone through EB Games website and besides the obvious ones like Super Mario Odyssey and Breath of The Wild what else is there? I would love to play both those games, but $80 seems insane to me. I'll check the pawn shops for those two.

Also is the SNK 40th Anniversary Collection any good? Are there any other retro collections on the Switch?

SNK 40th Anniversary is awesome and I highly recommend it. Namco Museum is great and comes with an upgraded version of Pac-Man Champion Edition 2. Look up Arcade Archives and ACANEOGEO, you'll find a bunch of retro titles for digital download.

You should also get:

Bayonetta 1 & 2
Hyrule Warriors
Neo Ultra Fast RMX
DK: Tropical Freeze
Code of Princess EX

There are lots of ports too (like Flashback). Another couple of retro collections:

- Collection of Mana (ports of Final Fantasy Adventure, Secret of Mana and Trials of Mana)

- Contra Anniversary Collection (Contra, Super Contra, Contra III, Contra: Hard Corps and Operation C)

I'm going to back Hyrule Warriors. It's a great mix of a very standard Warriors game with Zelda elements. Plus, it's just super fun to play.

Untitled Goose Game because I just watched SGF play a bit of it and it looked kind of charming.

If you're looking for more under the radar games, Stardew Valley is a nice Harvest Moon type game for if you just want a game to chill. It's not Switch exclusive, but it's practically been living in the E-shop's best selling section. Crypt of the Necrodancer is a DELIGHTFUL rhythm-based/dungeon crawler game, with utterly amazing music. Warning through, it's hard as balls. I haven't beaten it on normal mode yet. Seriously though, it's music is to die for.

If you don't want a hard game, the developers also made a similar game that crosses over with Cadence of Hyrule. It's much more accessible and just as delightful, albeit much shorter.

Into the Breach and Wargroove aren't Switch exclusives, but they're both very fun turn-based combat games that are perfect for the Switch.

But if you want a nice, long game with fun combat and an in-depth story, I've been loving the Hell out of Fire Emblem Three Houses, maybe one of the best Fire Emblem games I've ever played. Warning though. It is VERY long, so you'll certainly get bang for your buck.

Thanks, I'll pickup the SNK 40th Anniversary, and see if I can find Namco Museum. I played Bayonetta 1 on PC, it was alright, is the second one better? Forgot about DK, but I never really played any of them, when I had a N64 I was all about Goldeneye and Rogue Squadron. Code of Princess looks good, but it has a PC version, rather get the PC versions if not exclusive, can just snag it on a Steam sale.

Bayonetta 2 is better than 1, but it does have some flaws. Though those flaws are minor compared 1's problems. Good news is that you don't have to worry about instant death QTEs. The only bad news is that the chainsaw weapons are overpowered, and enemies either have too much health or the programmer made Bayonetta do less damage, because you'll be fighting enemies for quite a while on Infinite Climax unless you're using her equivalent of Dante's Devil Trigger (called Umbran Climax). Otherwise 2 is the better game because of better bonus features, more unlockable characters, and a co-op challenge mode with 51 challenges. Speaking of Platinum, get Astral Chain.

Side note, I mentioned Necrodancer already, but I just noticed it?s 80% off. That?s four bucks, an utter steal.

Astral Chain is great if you enjoy Platinum Games-style combat. I had a blast with it.

I'd also echo Fire Emblem.

Daemon X Machina if you want an Armored Core-alike, and despite Splatfests being over Splatoon 2 is still a good buy, especially if you get the Octo Expansion DLC
