And you're no better Western culture, with your insane fear of sex.
So there is a culture that is even more sexual than the Western culture?
Please tell me where, I wanna go there.
The Kama Sutra [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kama_Sutra] is an Indian text, ironically.

We have many cultures over here..

I would say that the majority of India is in a Religious community. They take their religion much more seriously than we do in the west. In many ways religion is all they have... I am not surprised by this.

What is stupid to you is offensive to others. But as most people don't know much out of their own communities I am not surprised by some of these comments.

And as most of you aren't even in India I dont see why this would even concern you, let alone give you a negative opinion about a country or company?

What? No. Because of the stupid Bible. We've associated sex with sin.

You know it's still illegal in most of the US for a women to walk around without a shirt on unless she's protesting?

To be fair, it's not been banned, so Indians can import it if they really want it.

This is sortof the equivalent of Sony pulling LBP because of the Forum post with the Muslim(s). Infact, I would consider this worse than the Sony/Muslim thing, atleast they're still releasing the damn game everywhere they can!

Except this time, NOBODY WAS COMPLAINING. Or atleast, nobody was complaining in this article to my knowledge. Reading it over again, like, 10 time no where does it say that any Indians were offended.

Microsoft just made the assumption that they didn't want to offend them, so they arn't going to release it in India at all. While I do understand them not wanting to offend anyone, they could atleast wait until someone complained and then release an official appology or something.

What the hell is this?

In tactics it's called a pre-emptive strike. The only problem is that they're pre-emptively striking against an empty field of grass (one, ostensibly, with no cows in it I might add). Last time I checked India had a fairly diverse collection of religions and peoples residing there, not just Hindus.

I've not played the Fallouts thus far (never got round to it, unfortunately). Did 1 and 2 have these two-headed cows in? I assume so from:
the famous Fallout brahmins
In which case, were 1 and 2 unreleased in India? I can't see any reference to them in a quick skim of both game's wikis, so who knows? :s

That's gotta be one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. I'm getting a little tired of people being so damned worried about causing offense over every little thing. It's starting to get to the point where things are so PC you can't say anything for fear of ticking off every religion on the planet. If someone gets upset at the game and complains, too bad. It's just a game, and nobody guaranteed you a life where you wouldn't be offended occasionally. Microsoft should just accept any complaints that come their way (they'll get plenty anyway, for the violence and such I'm betting) and deal with it.

Idiots.

A lot of you guys are forgetting that Microsoft is pulling Fallout 3 off Indian shelves. Frankly, most Indian gamers wouldn't care, and the deeply religious ones wouldn't know about video games to begin with. Hell, most will get the game regardless, since the place is rife with piracy.

So, re-iteration: this is Microsoft's decision, not due to some kind of complaint.

So I'm guessing you maintain a deep awareness of Hinduism and multibillion international corporate commerce. Cow killing is more comparable to a game in which you can set Jesus ablaze and then go at his crucified body with a machine gun. beliefs on things being PC aside, would that surprise anyone if it wasn't released in the U.S. where Christianity is the dominant religion? and it isn't a matter of one person complaining it's a matter of one person complaining and gather several thousand of his other friends that agree with his point of view and protesting on TV and in front of stores causing hundreds of thousands to simply not buy millions of dollars worth of MS products because, as evidence by this one thing, they are "anti-India".

Wha??? *facepalm*

Good God. For the record, this isn't barbaric, Sati is barbaric, this is MS responding to the potential for a very real grass roots action. As for the rest of that post: are you talking words?

Source?

And again: Don't like it? Protest by not buying, not by not selling. As far as I can tell from a quick glance around the internet, India is a secular nation for the most part. Would MS really be liable to a lawsuit for selling it there?

Cow killing is more comparable to a game in which you can set Jesus ablaze and then go at his crucified body with a machine gun.
Or...say...poke fun at him repeatedly and have him mutilated in a number of ways (such as in South Park, a US produced show.)

Wait, has anyone thought that this might not be just because the game might offend some people? If you look at it, India is probably one of the pirate capitals in the world. While I'm not sure of the exact figures, could it be possible that Microsoft, not wanting to release the game in India, is using this as an excuse? We all know that piracy is just an excuse to implement DRM in order to curb second-hand sales, so, could it be possible?

I want all Bollywood movies to be banned immediately!

I feel offended by how bad they are.

Of course I could also just not watch them. But I also feel offended when others have the chance to watch them.
And I also feel offended bla bla bullshit bla...

Could be. That would make some sense I suppose. But I don't think having the game in the country would stop the piracy, if anything it would encourage early pirates. Think about it, if a game is rare in a country the only way to get it would be from Pirates who bring it from countries to the North. They could make as many copies as they want and sell it as expensive as they want with the only compitation being other pirates.

Anyway, so Microsft doesn't want to sell Fallout 3 in India, what does it matter? They can sell their games in any country they want, if they don't want to sell in India they don't have to. In this case they don't want to risk upsetting some people and hurting xbox sales so they wont. Would you be suprised if Microsft didn't sell a game where you killled Jesus or Mohammed as many times as you wanted to? I wouldn't. Why should it be any different for the Indian gods?

Frankly most of the posts here have been very stupid and immature. I mean come on guys, what the hell?
