No More Crackdown DLC

Crackdown [http://www.realtimeworlds.com/], and even the persuasive might of an internet petition won't change its mind.

In a post on the official Crackdown forum [http://forums.crackdownoncrime.com/forums/permalink/35553/35553/ShowThread.aspx#35553], Community Relations Manager Chris Dye wrote, "Unfortunately from a Realtime Worlds perspective there will not be any additional DLC for Crackdown; the company has moved onto our next project, APB, and is 100% committed to that and other projects yet to be announced, and as such we are not in a position to work on any new Crackdown content. I'm sorry this isn't exactly the news you are all waiting for... Thank you for all the support you have given Crackdown over the past 18 months, and I do hope that we can do something to repay that support in the future."

Crackdown is an open-ended third-person shooter, developed by Realtime Worlds and published by APB [http://www.microsoft.com], a Windows-based MMOG currently slated for release in 2009.

I can relate to the petitioners' anger, in a way; I'm still pissed off that there hasn't been a proper Throne of Bhaal [http://www.bioware.com/games/baldurs_gate/]. But the fact is that even with DLC, no game lasts forever, and it's been over a year and a half since Crackdown launched. Realtime Worlds has shown great commitment to their game, but not expecting them to move on to bigger and better things is unfair and unreasonable.

I disagree. You are supposed to at least CONSIDER what your customers want. RTW is just not listening to us.

Cracktown is an awesome game....but it still needs patches and more DLC.

We will NOT give up until they do.

I didn't even know that people were still seriously playing Crackdown.
Are you kidding? This is one of the best simple sandbox games to date for the 360. At it's current price of I think $19.99, it's still just as fun a year and ahlaf later compared to some of the new $59.99 games.

I return to this one every few weeks at least if I want a fast paced, pick me up, dive into the action type of game.

I was so hoping if not DLC, they would announce CD II.

I'm not surprised; while new content for Crackdown would be more than welcome, there's only so much time and manpower can realistically be dedicated to a game that's been out for 18 months.

And if Realtime Worlds still had a dev team working on the Crackdown brand, I'd prefer to see them make a full sequel than chuck out a handful of new vehicles or missions.

So what's the plan? Seriously, RTW seems pretty clear on this, and unless you're willing to go beyond signing internet petitions to something like, say, offering an injection of working capital sufficient to hire a secondary dev team to create the content you want, I think you might just be out of luck.

I didn't think people were still hoping for DLC, I still love the game, don't get me wrong, but I was hoping for a Crackdown 2 over more DLC for it.
