Where was this focus group when the Transformer's movie came out?

"It'll ruin my childhood memories!"
"Okay. Bay, you're fired"

This just shows lack of competence on the development team.

I'll hold off if I think the games a pile of feces or not for the release.

I hope this doesn't mean they're removing the Whole Good/Bad/Neutral Mickey System. If it does, then I am gonna be highly disappointed. The Good/Bad/Neutral System was very appealing to me. I hope that remains. If it's some move that Evil Mickey Has (That picture of Mickey with the sharp teeth and evil yellow eyes comes to mind when I hear of Mean Mickey), I wouldn't care.

And now, let us watch as a game with potential becomes another stereotypical disney game with an overdose of happiness and rainbows.

The thing is... the kind of people who they had on board when it first started out are going to feel alienated when the creators start catering to the people who will give them lots of money... it's a shame that developers can't try anything new in fear of losing sales. When you start taking away everything that was original about the game, you just end up with another generic crap title for the Wii that everyone will forget about.

It was a unique idea, sure, but I'm not against them scrapping it. Mickey is Mickey. He's been this way for the better part of a century and he shouldn't change now.

I think what bothers me so much about this is just that they keep changing the game as it was originally presented. It's reminding me of Fable all over again. We're given all sorts of concept art showing a different look to a game involving Mickey, namely something that gives it a steampunk look. That's gone now. Then they made it sound like they were going to change Mickey's look to represent him not acting like Mickey. That's gone now.

Also, personally, if I've got a Mickey who is running around being a total jerkwad to everyone he meets I wouldn't want him to look like Mickey. Because it isn't. But obviously since there's some biker, likely a 40 year old going through mid-life crisis, who wouldn't play a Mickey game knows better than I do.

I thought the whole point of this game was, at least partially, to make older Disney fans feel uncomfortable? Well, as long as they don't change much else, it shouldn't be too big a deal.

Focus groups mean nothing. Usually they are led through their responses, giving the company the opinion that they wanted in the first place. It's the conservation of ninjitsu principle: the more of something there is, the crappier it becomes. So Group Think = Retarded.

Soooooooo, seeing how a lot of you are reacting I guess the only way gamers can enjoy anything is by making it gritty and dark.

Remember what happened to Twilight Princess: http://www.joystickdivision.com/2010/06/pretension_1_gamers_you_ruined.php

I don't think Spector's willing the take many risks with this game.

Let's be honest; for a Wii game, it's naturally going to want to appeal to a wider audience. While us more hardcore gamers might have loved the old steampunk concept (I sure as hell did), what they have now is just as fine. It is Disney, which is nostalgic for such a vast number of people that pulling the tricks Warren had originally planned would really have a hard time getting through to some people.

It's a better decision, commercially. In the end, it's just business.

People saying that this game is going to become happy and rainbow covered are exaggerating. The only difference is that now Mickey does not become the Mass Effect 2 Paragon/Renegade Shepard. They have said NOTHING about taking away the steampunk. Do not assume they have until we have more information.

As far as we know, the game still has all the horror it was going to have from the start. Mr. Specter has said time and time again that he wants the game to disturb and frighten kids. I think, that if the concept art is any indicator, he has succeeded.

At the very least, wait until the game comes out and we know more about it to talk about it. We have another year of development time before it is released.

Think about it. Monsters that are steampunk robots with the flesh of Goofy, Jafar, Tigger, Donald and many more thrown in like a patchwork abomination? Yes please.
