Best Heist Movie Ever

This one's going to start some controversy. Can Ocean's 13 stand up to The Italian Job for best Heist movie? Chris thinks so, but do you?

I don't think this will start controversy, because the answer was obviously the Italian Job none of us bothered watching the video to have that fact confirmed right? I must have just experienced some sort of hallucination where Oceans 13, _13_, _13_!!!, was named a better heist film than the Italian Job

I mean that would just be silly

I have never said that someone is wrong for having a different opinion than me on something I love but today it has happened. You are just plain wrong.

If you had said Ocean's 11 Vs The Italian Job then I might have seen your point but 13?

Hell. No.

That being said I am English so I have to said with The Italian Job and Sir Michael Caine. It is basicly the law.

Don't worry Chris, I also liked 12...but The Italian Job is a hell of a lot better heist movie than all 3 of them. Err...all 4 if you want to count the Rat Pack one.

Even the remake of the Italian Job was better than any of the Oceans movies. Based on the second criteria: you have to want the "good guys" to win. I hated most of the characters in the Oceans films.

Ah, good to see Kyle brought the '90s Canucks jersey out in time for the new season. Well done.

As to the debate itself, what is it with Chris and picking fairly recent movies? Surely there must've been something of an older vintage that outdoes the (admittedly pretty cool) Clooney "Ocean" movies. Does "The Great Escape" count as a heist?

You're both wrong. The best heist film is Rififi.
Actually you're half-right. Those two are both wrong, but the best heist film is actually "Heat". Robert De Niro AND Al Pacino. Need I say more?

Maybe they were talking about the 2003 remake?
Nope, it was the original with Michael Caine, the one that popularized minicoops in the first place.

Yeah, I'm going to have to join the class-action complaint against Chris for liking Ocean's Twelve. The whole sequence with "Julia Roberts" is hilarious, but the rest is fairly weak. Eleven is the best for being remotely grounded in reality and having interesting character dynamics, Thirteen is just so goddamn silly that you can't help but love it.

You have to be kidding me! I feel robbed!

The Italian Job all the way.
The Oceans films do not even compare.

Name a quote from the Italian Job "You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!", "Hang on a minute, I got an idea"

From any of the Oceans films... (nothing comes to mind)

I liked your use of "celebrity cameos" in this one. As for Ocean's 12? I heard that one was a thinly disguised excuse to party at George Clooney's Italian villa on the studio's dime.
Well, I did not see Ocean's 13 would win, or that the original Italian Job would lose. Why not have the debate between that and the ORIGINAL Ocean's 11 starring the Rat Pack!

The correct answer is actually Michael Mann's Heat, but good debate none the less.
There is No Right Answer... except this one. :)

Heat is a straightforward bank robbery, then it turns into one of the best shootouts ever put into a movie. One of the best parts? While most movies use dubbed gunfire sounds, Heat used the raw audio, echoing off the concrete buildings of downtown LA. Holy crap does that fight sound visceral.

Man, the best heist movie is definitely Heat. But, going off the movies being compared, The Italian Job is the best of the two movies by far. Still not as good as Heat.
