I'd thought I'd start a music thread that focuses on instrumental music that we enjoy. Only rules: Keep it short, symphonies are wonderful, but no more than 10 minutes, please. Only songs with little to no words, songs like "Tequila" by The Champs are acceptable, f.e. No songs originally from soundtracks either, please.

As for mine:

Feel the nostalgia.

Just saw the "No Soundtrack" rule, is this a violation of it?

Yes. You are officially penalized 10 internets. To get these back, submit 2 songs within the guidelines that have not yet been posted.

First purely instrumental song I heard (that i remember the title of anyway).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sz_2peo0NPc Song is Hope by Apocalyptica.

Embeds don't work for me for some reason. Like, I can't see any video that is directly embedded on a post. Think it's one of my add-ons, probably the one that keeps flash vids from autoplaying. So linking is best I can do.

Note: Link is to a rendition of the song by the vid poster, not the band itself. He does a good job of it I think, but I didn't see that it wasn't the band itself. Here's a link to the band performing it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJGU0QZNZt4

I've got a thing for mash ups of musical styles:

For instance, Orchestral Dubstep.

Does "splicing" count?
If not, then...
Other than that...
I usually don't have any words to describe most of these, anyway...

Good timing, I just discovered this gem, and it blew my mind. Very relaxing, very unique.
For some strange reason it reminds me of Persona 4. I think it would go well with the school/inaba.

Speaking of Persona. Some of you may recognize this from Persona 2 and Disappearance of Haruhi Suzimiya. It's one of my all time favorite pieces of classical music, and I could listen to it for hours. It's so simple, and yet it's painfully beautiful.

I'll cheat by posting the second movement of a symphony. It's the only part I like, but I love it.

Sounds great, but the focus here is supposed to be on instrumentals.

More found on my "travels."

Almost all the music I love is instrumental. I just tend to find that lyrics tend to sound glib and cheesy when you try to mangle them into rhyme and rhythm. Only a few really good songwriters can do it well, IMO.

Anyway, here's an incredible guitar solo cover of an incredible piece of melodic electronica. The guitarist is some random (but brilliant) YouTuber, the original artist was relatively well-known YouTuber Ronald Jenkees (possibly my favourite musician of modern times).

Most of Joe Hisaishi's stuff is sublime, but this song works possibly even better as an instrumental.

Another chance to break out the list of artists nobody else will actually listen to?

Fantastic.

I'll start with the one I always have to bring up in music threads:

And continue on from there!
There are minimal vox in many Tycho songs, but they're not the focus of the composition.

Like Tycho, their songs tend to have some vox, but they're only occasionally primary features.

And I'll end it with another one of my favorites:

Well, OP said little to no lyrics, so I assumed a song with minimal lyrics and an emphasis on instrumental guitar would be acceptable.

The majority of his work tends to fall into that category anyway, he's probably one of the better guitarists I've heard.

And, this is to try to keep this thread going, and to try out a new trick. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZAPShHTtB0/]
