My friend introduced me to parkour a few years ago. I tried to keep up, but yeah...Not my thing.
This. ;( I'm not nearly flexible or durable enough to do that kinda stuff. Though you can probably attribute most of that to my sheer bone idleness.Shivari post=18.72241.753676 said:It is my firm belief that the most efficient way to get from one point to another is to walk.
That, and if I tried parkour I'd die.
I live in the southern suburbs of Victoria so I occasionally go to the city. Do you go to the meetups they have in Melbourne?gothic_dragon post=18.72241.754439 said:i have been training for about a year and i love the way it makes me look at things as im walking down the street i think how could i get over that quickly and awesomely as for free running i have branched out into it to learn better control of my body but im still strictly for efficiency i know the difference and don't like it when i am doing parkour and get called a free runner. i train in Melbourne so if there are any others who train in Melbourne we should meet up to train
sometimes, my group broke off from the apa classes. we train in a similar time frame to the classes but we start at 12-12:30pm and train until dark and often after so more training and no cost.Programmed_For_Damage post=18.72241.754734 said:I live in the southern suburbs of Victoria so I occasionally go to the city. I'm lucky that I live a few minutes from town and train there most of the time but I'm always discovering new ways to do things. Once you start to get better you begin to think "Could I do that?" and you start to do different things, at the moment I am conquering my "fear" of rails by jumping from rails to rails, it's scary at first but you get used to it.
That's all there is to it. Really as long as you're not stupid about it and attempt things beyond your "level" straight off the bat then you'll be fine, there will come a time where you'll be able to make that jump, just not today, but someday when you're better and stronger.
There is this big car park wall I have been trying to do an arm jump(running and jumping) to for ages, I've been increasing the number of squares back that I can jump by one each time, so far I'm on 3 squares back, and they are pretty big squares, I tried going back one more today(that was my target)and I managed it, just lol. Of course after doing once I did it again and again and again, it felt great to finally be able to do it. Next up precision to arm jump it from four squares back o.0gothic_dragon post=18.72241.755095 said:to true there is a roof jump at a local school that i train at that i want to do it so dam much but i know i cant so im always training so that one day i will do it. today i feel that i accomplished something by doing a wall run that was just over twice my height man did i feel epic has anyone els done something like a big ass precision, wall run or arm jump/cat grab that made you feel epic
On the contrary my dear Death Magnetic. Ok, enough with the posh English lolDeath Magnetic post=18.72241.755262 said:I have the upper body strength for it, I just don't have the stamina, balance or lower body stength and the fact I've got very weak ankles which I've broke before. If I could do it, I would do it at every given chance.
I read you loud and clear lol.Hybrid_Element post=18.72241.755317 said:I find Parkour to be one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Its something I'd love to learn how to do (I live in a town in GA, United States so there's NONE of it here >.<).
(When done in a city) Parkour says no to the barriers and mapping of a city, jumping through it as if it was still the forest or area which once stood there...
Its really awesome ^.^;
(Maybe edited later when I have more time to make sense)
