My friend introduced me to parkour a few years ago. I tried to keep up, but yeah...Not my thing.

If someone would like train me or my friends were doing it too, I would LOVE to do Parkour. I just do not have the discipline to do something that challenging myself.

It is my firm belief that the most efficient way to get from one point to another is to walk.

That, and if I tried parkour I'd die.
This. ;( I'm not nearly flexible or durable enough to do that kinda stuff. Though you can probably attribute most of that to my sheer bone idleness.

It's pretty cool, I have a friend who used to do it on weekends, or at least, told me he did. He was a compulsive liar so who knows? He did show me a thing or two that he can do and I was quite impressed.

I'll stick to walking though, thanks.

I would love to do Parkour and there is occasionally a Parkour meeting in my capital city that I've been tempted to go to because I like the idea behind it and have in the past taken alternative approaches for getting from A to B. Problem is I'm incredibly vain and worry that I'll fvck up, break something and ruin my features. Same reason I never really got into skateboarding.

I used to parkour/freerun but I evetually got to the point where I relelized I was tall..and tall is no good in Parkour/freerunning because I can't Kong Vault or anything because my freaking legs always scrape the mount and I freaking fall flat on my face... but I do Parkour/freerun time to time.

i have been training for about a year and i love the way it makes me look at things as im walking down the street i think how could i get over that quickly and awesomely as for free running i have branched out into it to learn better control of my body but im still strictly for efficiency i know the difference and don't like it when i am doing parkour and get called a free runner. i train in Melbourne so if there are any others who train in Melbourne we should meet up to train

I live in the southern suburbs of Victoria so I occasionally go to the city. Do you go to the meetups they have in Melbourne?

I always run around and jump over stuff. I wouldn't call it Parkour though, more like mild ADD or "extreme restlessness" if you will.

I was alot like the people who say they can't be assed or are too fragile(for want of a better word), I guess it's worth pointing out that I started around the same time I was getting over my ex so I practically threw myself into it, but even now after having got over my ex I still enjoy doing it, I can see myself doing it for many years to come.

You will fall, it's inevitable, but that's how you learn, and in Parkour it's vital that when you fail you go back and do the thing that you failed, otherwise you'll always attribute that fail to that particular rail/wall/etc and never will do it again.
I've got several scratches, bruises, gashes and scrapes on my legs from falling many times but you get up and continue, the worst injury I've had so far was smashing my left toe against a rail whilst catpassing over it, couldn't walk for a day, and it hurt to train on it but I trained the very next day in order not to fall behind and resign myself to being "broken" and possibly never going back to train again.

And being tall has no baring on it either, alot of the people I train with are giants but they can still do catpasses(you call them kongs)and many other things that I can't at the moment. It's just a case of being aware of your body, listening to it and responding and reacting to it depending on the situation.

sometimes, my group broke off from the apa classes. we train in a similar time frame to the classes but we start at 12-12:30pm and train until dark and often after so more training and no cost.

I can do some but I have never really tried...

I can action roll, Flip (sorta) and I have great Hand eye co-ordination so bar-grabs are easy (pity I can never hold on to them long enough)

It is just a shame that there is no where to do it near my house, not even the city really unless you want me to pwn up some bars

There's always places to do Parkour around, any walls, rails, stairs, anywhere, even if it doesn't seem apparent at the time there is always a route to take in Parkour. I'm lucky that I live a few minutes from town and train there most of the time but I'm always discovering new ways to do things. Once you start to get better you begin to think "Could I do that?" and you start to do different things, at the moment I am conquering my "fear" of rails by jumping from rails to rails, it's scary at first but you get used to it.

That's all there is to it. Really as long as you're not stupid about it and attempt things beyond your "level" straight off the bat then you'll be fine, there will come a time where you'll be able to make that jump, just not today, but someday when you're better and stronger.

There is this big car park wall I have been trying to do an arm jump(running and jumping) to for ages, I've been increasing the number of squares back that I can jump by one each time, so far I'm on 3 squares back, and they are pretty big squares, I tried going back one more today(that was my target)and I managed it, just lol. Of course after doing once I did it again and again and again, it felt great to finally be able to do it. Next up precision to arm jump it from four squares back o.0
I have my work cut out for me lol

I have the upper body strength for it, I just don't have the stamina, balance or lower body stength and the fact I've got very weak ankles which I've broke before. If I could do it, I would do it at every given chance.

I find Parkour to be one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Its something I'd love to learn how to do (I live in a town in GA, United States so there's NONE of it here >.<).

(When done in a city) Parkour says no to the barriers and mapping of a city, jumping through it as if it was still the forest or area which once stood there...

Its really awesome ^.^;

(Maybe edited later when I have more time to make sense)

On the contrary my dear Death Magnetic. Ok, enough with the posh English lol
I used to do weight training before I started Parkour, I've since stopped because I've found it makes you slow but you are in a great position to just do it straight off the bat. Stamina, balance and lower body strength will come with time, two months ago I would be tired from training as much as I do now, but now I'm not tired anymore, you build things up as you go, you push your body to as high a level as you can go without injury, constantly testing your limits. I sprained my ankle a few years back(ok so it's not like breaking them but it's similar, the joint is still permenantly weakened)it almost never comes into play once you get started, mine is beginning to act up now though so I'm going to get it checked out again.

You can do it, just don't push yourself too much at first.
"Push your limits, don't seek to break them"
