I know who I'm going to root for. If they do it, they have to record it. Maybe get some not-annoying announcers to commentate over it, and then I must grab some popcorn. Perfect.

Great idea if every lawsuit would end like this we would have a lot more fun instead of fighting it in the courts we fight on virtual battlefields instead! I just say Go Notch GO!

I think this is appropriate:

Notch...Whether this goes down or not (and I'm betting it won't, since all those lawyer types will get all pissy about it.), this is a LEGENDARY, absolutely freakin EPIC, and downright awesome move on your part. Massive props for being cool, inventive, and not all stuffy and upset.

And if this DOES go down...I DEMAND FOOTAGE!!!

Well, in boring old reality this is actually a terrible idea, and frankly I hope Bethesda is stupid enough to go to court and get their asses handed to them, because their lawyers desperately needed to get taken down a peg or two. Or three. Or twenty. Seriously, fuck Bethesda's lawyers.

Still, I gotta say it's a completely and utterly awesome challenge for Notch to issue, and I just like him even more for it.

Well, as a cool and smarty pants PR move to rally gamers to him, Notch gets my applause.

You all, however, keep forgetting that all of this started because Notch tried to trademark the word Scrolls. Not "The Elder Scrolls", like Bethesda has. No. Just "Scrolls". Notch is playing the part of Tim Langdell and Bethesda the role of EA and DICE in this new season of trademark nonsense. Sued by Bethesda or not, Notch is a real troll for trying to trademark the word scrolls in the first place. This move only gives him enough coolness to go back to the neutral state after the dickish attempt to trademark a noun.

Remember, Notch tried to trademark the noun scrolls. How about you guys step back and think about why you are defending this in the first place and reign back the hypocrisy?

So why hasn't some one from Paramount sued Star Wars for having the world "Star" in the title? Why hasn't some one representing Larry Niven sued Bungie for using a ring world in their games?

Could it be because these are all large, well established franchises and that it's easier to pick on smaller developers? Could it be more about market control and less about a misrepresentation of one's IP?

I gotta hand it to Notch. It's a brilliant PR move, and just all around awesome. I hope somehow Bethesda gets control of itself and accepts this. It's their best way out. They already look like jerks for all this. Not to mention given all their other shenanigans, they don't seem to be winning any popularity contests. I think this...win or lose, would help their own PR, and that's more valuable to them than the court case they'll most likely lose.

This idea would be significantly more entertaining if Bethesda had to change the name of Skyrim if they lost >.>

I can't really think of anything else to say really, that's just awesome.

Calm in the face of preposterous adversity? Solves his problems with online video games? I think notch has just transcended the awesomeness scale.

Notch takes awesome to a whole new level.
Not only did he stand up to one of the biggest game company's ever, but he threw down the gauntlet and demanded a fight!

Worst part is, if Bethesda doesn't accept, everyone will think theyre yellow!
