Good for them, although it doesn't fix the issue of those kinds of people existing.
Anywho... Urge to get a 360 again is rising... Must... Resist...
I will help you withstand your urges!

Look deep into my eyes. Don't look away, focus on my eyes.

Do you see that they are shaped as three-quarters red circles?

No? We'll you're going to see one if you buy the 360!

As long as you leave it playing horizontally, take the game out before switching it off and don't knock it while it's playing you won't get the 3 red lights. Probably still a better Idea to get the Elite version instead of the normal one though.

Umm I can do that with any game now. And the mute will carry over to any other game I might find myself in with said offensive player.
This method doesn't take as long, so you can do it faster and not die.
I dunno death has never really been a problem in most games. I usually catch them in the lobby before the game starts. Or do it while respawning. I prefer to have the securty of knowing I will never hear them again over never hearing them in 1 specific title. Although I do agree MS should have made it easier to do so since it does take a few precious seconds that can cost you a life or 2. And bone your team if you are in a TDM or whatnot.

While I'm imagining a perfect world where the Mute Ban option resulted in Master Chief being dispatched to kick the offending racist teenager in the throat and crush his voice box...
I really, really wish that this was a reality...

OT: I remember reading about this last Friday when it was posted.

Looks great, and I can't wait.

I'm so glad that now I don't have to wait a long ass time so my friends can finish their game and invite me into the party.

What confuses me is that Halo games didn't have mute ban in the first place. I take it for granted in the games I play (ok, admitedly this consists only of TF2).

One phrase to quiet the urge...GOD. OF. WAR. 3

Easy mute bans really should be manitory of all multiplayer games with voice chat capability. No exceptions.

Thank you Bungie, you are truly gods among mere mortals. I also support Master Chief drop kicking those pre-pub mickey mouse sounding mother fuckers.

A few words to increase the urges: God Of War 3 make you play the other 2 to make sense. Halo: Reach is it's own contained story. Also 360s are cheaper.
Are you kidding? The story is incredibly simplistic. Here's a synopsis: Kratos is a Spartan. Ares caused Kratos to kill his family. Kratos kills Ares. Kratos becomes the God of War. Kratos is betrayed by Zeus in second game. Kratos reverses time to prevent Zeus from killing him. Kratos goes and kills everyone on Mount Olympus.

It's a joke how simple the story is. Also, when you're brutalising Greek Gods, are you really going to care WHY you're doing it?

This is wonderful news. Bungie will really set the bar for having mute ban abilities and chat preferences available. I'm definitely looking forward to this game more not just for myself but for the fact that everyone can shut out the evil 13 year old brats.

6 Spartans are better than 1. Therefore Reach is better than God of War... Your last point is a good one. I did enjoy God of War 3 for the 30 minutes I played it, for the sheer fact of the brutality.

I think the whole tone: polite thing could get abused. Hard to go wrong with a "I don't want to hear this trash-mouth" button. Maybe the offender should get a counter... seeing that 387 people refuse to listen to you after a few days may give them the hint that nobody likes listening to them.

The ability to control settings for Chattiness and Tone should be default for all xbox live games definitely, there are the rare times I jump online for a game while not subjected to racist abuse, which is there of course, but just plain insane crap like talking about a movie star or something they did at school that day.

If I'm playing a game, and I don't know you, the most I want to hear out of you is "Y position is under attack"

Won't work. Years of gaming have taught me that much-touted features, often fail. Sometimes, if we're fortunate, they do so spectacularly.
