They need AMD. Part so we can still pretend they don't have a monopoly--which we fucking do, thanks to CUDA--and part so Nvidia can continue to pretend to be the "premium" offering. And, judging by the sales, it works. Still don't really know a single person that has an AMD card.
Last Nvidia I had was 2009 1GB ram GTS 250. It ran Crysis fine. Been all AMD ever since. My one complaint is that every time their Adrenalin app updates, I have to reset my fan settings. That was the case for my RX 480. Maybe it will be different for my new 6750xt.
ITMT I'll have to look up what you are writing of regarding CUDA. Something AMD and Intel with their Arc cards has to purchase from Nvidia?

EDIT: Looks like Intel is using something else 1690374388473.png
and AMD

EDIT: Hmm, just upgraded AMD software and did NOT have to reset my tuning. Good thing.
2nd Edit: just upgraded on my old RX 480 and i DID have to reset my tuning. Have to be careful with that one. Might R&R the card in that someday.
