NVIDIA Releases the GeForce 8800 Ultra

Today NVIDIA Corporation introduced the fastest graphics processing unit (GPU) in the world: the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 Ultra.

The 8800 Ultra performs an average of between 10 and 15 percent faster than NVIDIA's previous graphics card, the 8800 GTX GPU.

Consumers will be able to experience visually rich gaming with high resolution graphics and high definition video playback with support for both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD content.

GeForce 8 series GPU's are the first to include support for Direct X 10 and will be the reference for Direct X 10 API development. Direct X 10 is included with Microsoft Windows Vista and delivers unparalleled levels of graphics realism and film-quality effects for games all rendered in real-time. These cards are videogame developers' platform of choice for this year's top Direct X 10 titles, including Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, Crysis, Age of Conan, Hellgate: London, Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts, World in Conflict, BioShock, PT Boats and Cryostasis.

Ujesh Desai, General Manager of Desktop GPUs at NVIDIA, said, "The definitive gaming platform is built around the fastest components available, and today there is no disputing those components inlude the GeForce 8800 Ultra GPU."

The NVIDIA GeForce 8800 Ultra will be available at retailers worldwide by May 15.
