Maybe this is gonna be my card. Small enough and power efficient for my PSU. According to available benchmarks it gives and RTX 2080 Super a run for its money. So long as my research brings back better number than a GTX 1080, I’ll grab one.

Available soon at your local scalper ...

Anyway, december 2nd, aka tomorrow, the RTX 3060 Ti will be available to bots and the occasional lucky bastard.
Comes at an MSRP of $399 and touted to be about on par with an 2080 Super.

I was getting intrigued by this card but then I thought,

A. It will be scarcer than a PS5
B. How is the reliability of first-run GPUs? Guessing it’s got to be better than consoles, but still.

I’ll probably end up waiting it out.

Well technically the first run was the 3090 and 3080. And we’ve had the 3070 since then and the 3060Ti looks like it’s basically a 3070 with some stuff removed. That makes it produced on what would be by now a proven base. Which is hilariously ironic because the unit LTT reviewed was defective xD. So, you’re probably gonna be fine but it won’t matter because the scalpers are gonna get them all and resell at hyper inflated mark ups.

By the time the likes of you and I get one, the bugs will be well and truly ironed out.

Yeah, guess I'll get that to upgrade my 1060 sometime next Spring. Think the scalping will have calmed down by then?

God I fucking hope so. I was hoping to stick with the XX80 to keep in line with my 1080 but availability and obscene pricing means that just isn’t going to fucking happen.

Well, looks like I’m boned regardless. Exchange rate is a bastard so these suckers pump in at $700 minimum.

I'd really like to get my hands on a 3080, but those things are gone.

A 3070 would be nice too, but its the same issue.

The 3060TI would be a small but not insignificant upgrade vs my 1080TI, so maybe it would be something to consider if I could get a good price for my 1080TI when I resold it. But again, there are none to be found.

Honestly, it doesnt really matter what I want, because realistically, im stuck with my 1080TI for the foreseeable future. Then again, being "stuck" with a top of the range product from a couple of years ago, isn't exactly the worst situation I could find myself in. First world problems, eh? I just wouldnt want to be in the market for a new PC, at the moment.

On the plus side, 3090s appear to be in stock at one of the UK retailers I checked, so if I was desperate enough to splurge at least £1500, I at least have that option. It also makes me happy the 3090 scalpers made a bad financial decision.

Here, apparently nVidia did their best Don Corleone impression with some dude on YouTube. I don't personally give a fuck but it seems relevant to a lot of users here. Enjoy.

Rumours are pointing to a 6GB and 12GB RTX 3060. And maybe if they want to simultaneously make everyone blow their stacks and their loads (rage cumming?), the mythical 20GB RTX 3080Ti.

Review of the new RTX 3060, with 12GB vram.

Also, US price: $329
AUS price: $719 and UP!

What a fucking farce.

Not that anyone will actually be able to pay RRP for the foreseeable future.
Allowing for profit margins and exchange rate, the 3060 should be topping out at $550AUD, not starting at $700+

Fuck, I should just buy a 3090. It’s RRP is ridiculous but at least it’s not inflated.

Here in the old mainland things aren't all that spiffy either. 3060s are going for ~700 EUR or about 1100 AUD. They're the only 3000s available at official retailers tho. Next best thing I can commonly find Nvidia-wise is the 1660 Super for 400 EUR (~620 AUD). Oh, and one 3090 from the German Amazon for a trifling 3200 EUR (~5000 AUD). AMD is just completely barren. Don't think I've ever seen any of the 6000 cards in stock anywhere since about a week after launch.

Same, there's not a fucking sausage to be had. Again, weirdly, unless you want to buy the RTX 3090 or RX 6900XT. Thier ridiculous outlay seems to have acted as a buffer to mass buy and flips since only some dedicated lunatics were gonna buy them anyway.

Thought I'd just slap down DF's review of the 3060

Jesus. I felt pretty guilty spending a couple hundred dollars over MSRP for my RTX 3090 I bought for 3D rendering, back in December, but between the scarcity and rampant inflation of prices I am feeling pretty spiffy now.

I felt bad about buying a 5700XT right before the 3000 series cards were announced. I really needed a new computer and couldn't really wait for the 3000 series cards to be released even though I knew they were better.

Man am I ever happy with my decision.
