A jrpg where you lose at the end . Kinda like FF7 but instead of Sephiroth being killed by Ominislash , Sephiroth kills Cloud and destroys the world ( or whatever his goal was ).

The main hero falls in love with a princess , and she's like NO i'm into girls and falls in love withthe hero's childhood female friend .

I'd pay a buck to play that.
JRPGs with bad endings? Looks like you need to play some more Shin Megami Tensei titles.

It's also funny that you talk about the whole "female princess in love with girls" right after mentioning Final Fantasy VII.
Instantly made me think of this:

As for my personal choice for a twist... How about a game in which you play a spirit/esper/aeon/eidolon/you know what I mean. The huge, powerful creatures that can be summoned in various games, be it Final Fantasy, Chaos Legion, Persona or whatever. In the game, you would be able to experience what is going on when you are not being summoned. Maybe you have a family? Maybe you've got a job? Maybe you're a member on the council of extraordinarity and spirituality? Maybe you are chosen by a summoner or maybe you can pick your own. Maybe you can test him or maybe he will test you.

You could go all out with this one, taking it seriously or just going balls out crazy.
Isn't Terra from FF6 technically an Esper ?

Also i swear i have never talked to anyone who knew about the game Chaos Legion . I'm surprised anyone bought that .

Oh and i meant bad ending were cannon . Most the of SMT titles have multiple endings and a "TRUE" ending is usually cannon .

For Modern Military Shooters.
-How bout something other than wankish patriotism
-Maybe play as a 3rd world country or someone opposing US/NATO
-Maybe even just some character development (when was the last time you played a MMS with non 1D characters? Spec ops? the Reznov parts in Treyarch CoD?)

A game where you start really rich and must squander all your money in stupid ways on things that give no obvious benefit.
Bonus points if you do it in a poor area or around poor people.
I've got the perfect IP. Brewster's Millions the Game, let's get to work on this.

A sandbox game of sorts, where instead of being able to do what you please, you're simply a ghost kind of. So you just travel the land/city/whatever observing stuff. It could also be done to a lesser extent where you can affect the environment but it doesn't affect you, essentially behaving like a poltergeist.
That's how I feel when I'm on Second Life (insert rim shot here), interesting idea though.

A stealth game where you're a woman accused of being a witch during the Salem Witch Trials.

An RPG where you're a Holocaust victim/eventual survivor.

An MMORPG. About pirates.
Ooooo, now that's a good idea. The pirate MMORPG. A long time ago there was a pirates game on NES that was a lot of fun actually. I loved exploring this huge world and classing with other countries. Now expand that with modern graphics and players. (I miss my war galleon with it's many cannons)

I was thinking maybe an MMORPG revolving around spies in modern times would be interesting. You'd be actively working against other players and even hired actors from the game company, never knowing who to trust.

How about a twist ending that's actually a twist ending. I'm really sick and tired of seeing a game's narrator/guide turn out to be the true antagonist.

I have a new twist on an overused concept for you:
Make a game set in the "Alien" universe. But make it good.
Yes I went there, sue me.

Actually, the idea would be to basically recreate the first "Alien" movie as a game.

A. The player has to: Figure out just what the fuck is going on whilst an unkwnon creature kills of the NPCs around you.
B. Be scared shitless because of being unable to defend herself (It's an "ALIEN" game, the protagonist needs to be female).
C. The developper has to_: Make the game NOT suck.

The sequel could then do the "Aliens" approach, with the marines and everything, with the marines being killed and the player having to fend for her life on a damn hostile world. Make rescuing the little girl optional though, because fuck escort missions.

A common sense RPG. When the ancient evil re-awakens, it should be easily killed with modern technology. If you come across a locked door, you should be able to kick it down. The kings not going to send some 15 year old to kill an evil knight. If there is going to be temples based of the 'elements', make it based off actual elements, like carbon and lithium(since when was water an element???? It's a molecule). If you come across an ancient weapon, it should be useless from rust and decay. If you need X number of wolf paws for a quest, you should be getting 4 paws per wolf killed. If you kill the emperor of the evil empire, the empire should continue due to succession laws put in place.

This is actually a really good idea, also you shouldn't be the only person who does anything in the world; people should be able to be self-sufficient, you as the player shouldn't be hunkered down with a ridiculous number of quests that most people would be fine doing on their own in real life.

How about a game about an alien invasion, except you don't get any real weapons and instead of fighting the aliens are forced to run and hide from them, your only goal being survival. It would have to be first person of course. The only fighting in the game would be the occasional skirmish with other survivors for food and stuff.

How about... playing an assassin who only assassinates other assassins, while they're trying to assassinate?

You save the target without them ever knowing that their life was in danger.
Mid-Plot-Twist, you and your loved ones become the new target.
Funnily enough you just just described, word-for-word, Assassin's Creed multiplayer.

Minus the plot.

Overused concept : Zombie game
Idea: You are given one simple task by oyur government before they leave you alone in the well stocked impenatrable bunker - investigate zombism and that's it.
You may investigate almost any way you can think, examples being;
- luring the zombies to a specific location you deem safe (bottom of an empty swimming pool etc )
-By performing autospies on dead zombies and humans killed before they turn.
- Setting up your own little CCTV network or hacking the city's to watch the horde in its natural form
- experiment how the zombie works molecularly
- experiment with ways of killing zombies

All of the top of my head so what youg guys think?

A game where you're an alien monster aboard a huge space ship and you have to pick people off in a stealth assassin style game. The levels getting progressively more difficult as you move from dank engineering to crews quarters to helm etc, where the crew starts off unaware of you but by the end are all armed, paranoid and very dangerous and have a security detachment. You end the game once all the crew are dead and you take over the ship, piloting it off into the depths of space to wherever, displaying your real intelligence.

I'd like to see an MMORPG that didn't have that colorful/cartoony look to it and involved guns.
I could point to a couple that aren't cartoony but as for both? only one comes to mind, but its in closed beta atm

how about an RPG with out an over arcing goal at all other then 'wander around'

yeah it'd be like TES but it'd have good combat and faffing about on quest's has consequences (some one want a cave full of cults removed? screw around long enough the town will be over run with demons) and when I say no over arcing goal, I don't mean 'something happens part way and now you have to save the world' , none of that, just you custom character (both looks and skills) and the desire to go 'that way' cause you haven't been there.

Heheh, I was picturing something a little more in-depth, like a reverse Hitman, but in definition yeah that's pretty much it.

More of a twist on a cliche plot, but what about turning The Most Dangerous Game on its head?

The villain decides to hunt the most dangerous game, so he kidnaps people and drags them to his secret evil base. Having discovered most humans actually make pretty lousy game, he then flies in deadly predators/monsters/mercenaries, trains them to be mankillers with his captives, then hunts them. Because the villain has the only way off whatever isolated location this takes place in, the protagonists not only must survive the unleashed dangers, but must make sure the villain stays alive long enough to secure their escape from him.

You are a Farmville player that loves nothing more than to click cows and spam your friends' pages with notifications. Unfortunately, you also live in a world full of Lovecraftian monsters lurking in the shadows that have nothing better to do than attack your internet connection in creative ways. You must fight them off in both the real world through your unholy magical powers and in randomly-appearing pop-up boxes of various generic minigames so you can continue playing Farmville. The monsters can't actually kill you, but if you go too long without playing Farmville, you go into a coma. The game ends when the player character gets bored and decides to play Mafia Wars instead..

I had one, but honestly there is an app game that beat me to the punch and did it better than I ever could. The overused concept is killer (zombie) viruses, but instead of playing as the human killing the zombies or even the zombie killing the humans, you play as the virus trying to destroy humanity!

The game that pulled it off is called Plague Inc. and it's simple but a blast and a great idea. The goal is to continue to grow and morph your designer plague (first time it's a bacteria, then later a virus...or a fungus or a weaponized chemical...and eventually a zombie virus) so that it evolves in severity, resistances and lethality. The goal...wipe out all civilization without any survivors (sometimes it kills to fast and you get pocket of survivors or they develop cures if it kills to slow). It's tougher than you think.

Since it's already out there it's not exactly on topic, but games that have this type of twist are great. I love the ideas in this thread.

I would play hell out of this. A survival horror alien invasion game, that would be awesome. It would make a good MMO, too. Band together with other survivors to share hiding spots or resources, fight off survivors who want to take your own group's resources.

A zombie setting in which the military doesn't somehow get curb stomped within 24 hours, and you get to take control of it and are tasked with purging the zombie plague engulfing your country. Seriously, I can understand that the military may have been overwhelmed by the initial outbreak, but why is they're completely nonfunctional or effectively wiped out before the story even begins in practically every zombie story?

You play as a commander ordering your forces to various areas in both attack and defend style missions, similar Dark Crusade or Total War. In game it plays more or less like a fairly large scale modern RTS without base building, similar to World In Conflict, except your guys are fighting hordes of zombies. Your men and vehicles stay with you throughout the campaign, become better in combat and more accustomed to the nature of the conflict and the unsavory means you'll need to apply to resolve it.
To make things a bit more even air support and tanks are in short supply and the zombies move pretty fast, there's tons of 'em, their numbers grow with each area they overwhelm and they learn as the campaign goes on. If you keep trying a certain trick they'll eventually figure out a way to avoid or counter it. For instance they learn to avoid grenades and how to disable tanks by breaking their treads and smashing their barrels. They might hide inside a seemingly clear town from your air units, and ambush your ground forces when they move in to investigate.

On a large scale you'll have to deal with things like keeping your troops supplied and their morale up. Bombing and shooting the shit out of everything works great until you don't have anymore bombs and bullets, so you'll typically need to not be too liberal with your application of firepower and will need to raid areas for supplies as often as you can, which may put you at odds with local gangs of survivors or deserted army groups. If morale gets too low, mainly be losing too many battles or continually suffering massive casualty rates your men might lose faith, desert or openly rebel.
In addition you'll also have to manage levels of infection in every area you control. Sometimes you may roll into a town devoid of zombies but full of people who might sooner or later turn into them. You'll be forced to impose martial law in basically every town you have a hold of. There's a number of ways of dealing wih infected (or potentially infected) You can order infected individuals quarantined in the hopes they'll overcome their illness. The most humane option, though it requires sufficent men to guard them and can be very dangerous, especially with large groups. Or you simply order anyone who shows symptoms executed, removing the most immediate problem but presenting another one, as you'll most definitely piss the locals off in doing this, putting your garrisoned men in danger, men who'll understandably be shaken when they're essentially ordered to murder the people they've sworn to defend.
If a town becomes too much of a problem and you deem it too dangerous and costly to keep, you can evacuate your men from it and carpet bomb it into oblivion.
You'll want to hold onto and 'purify' as many towns as can though, as they'll continuously provide your forces with stuff like food, good defensive positions, aid stations, workshops and garages for your equipment and vehicles, new recruits (if necessary) and... various morale boosts...

The campaign can ultimately end in a number of ways, all dealing with how many zombies you killed, how many of your men died, how many civilians died, how you dealt with hostile humans, how long the campaign went for, the fate of different towns and cities and how much damage you did to the environment and ecosystem.
You could have completely exterminated every zombie in existence, wiping out the threat once and for all but killing thousands of people in the process, and doing so much damage that the region won't be populated by anything living for years. You may have made an early rush to secure and evacuate as many towns as you could in the aim of saving as many people as possible and lost half your army successfully defending your citizens in the process, but now your force is so depleted they are unable to finish the job, and the zombies might return by the thousands any day now. Once the fight is over a memorial bearing the names of every one of your men lost is erected, along with a plaque describing your characters actions, painting you as a hero who did the absolute best they could, someone who finished the fight, but perhaps sacrificed too much to do it, as a psychopath who devastated the area without hesitation or some combination of all or these and others.
There's a number of ways the campaign can end, but there's no magical cure or fix. You have to deal with the outbreak as best you can. You need to decide how far you're willing to go and how many of your men and people you're willing to sacrifice in doing what you think is best in resolving the situation.

You play as a neutral monster in a MOBA and kill overconfident players early on and be fought over at the end. (The teams fight for your love!)
