Just bought okami for the ps2 second hand from eb games. It was an impulse buy and I'm not sure of its quality. What were your experiences with the game? Any specific problems or highlights? Looking forward to playing it
I kinda liked the combat - sure it wasn't very deep or challenging but hey it was functional and looked pretty!Daystar Clarion said:My one complaint, however, is that combat is pretty poor, more often than not it's just a button mashing fest, thanfully, the combat is a very small portion of the game.
Well, I've only played it on the Wii, so that may have tainted my view somewhat.MiracleOfSound said:It's magical.
50+ hours of joy in one of the most imaginative, surreal, enchanting gameworlds ever made.

EDIT: Now the digging minigame, on the other hand... FUUUUUU-
On PS2 the combat is quite precise - dodging, attacking, countering, everything works perfectly fine, just as the transition between painting and fighting (although painting itself is rather fiddly). I'd say it's easily my favourite part of the game.Daystar Clarion said:Well, I've only played it on the Wii, so that may have tainted my view somewhat.
The celestial brush mechanics work great with the wiimote.
The combat though, not so much. Dodging was completely unreliable since the nunchuck was terrible at detecting motion, let alone which direction, and hitting stuff was basically just waving the wiimote until stuff was dead.
Yeah, I thought it was a porting issue.Smertnik said:On PS2 the combat is quite precise - dodging, attacking, countering, everything works perfectly fine, just as the transition between painting and fighting (although painting itself is rather fiddly). I got this
The best way to describe Okami is that it's a Zelda game that pretty much did everyhting better.
The music, the aesthetic, the characters, the humour, everything is just better.

The rest just oozes character.
Ah, I can imagine it would be kinda awkward on the Wii alright. It felt fine on the PS2 controller because the dodging was mapped to the shoulder buttons so it felt really intuitive.Daystar Clarion said:Well, I've only played it on the Wii, so that may have tainted my view somewhat.

But, yeah it looked great![]()
