"One Million Moms" will be happy if it's Aquaman who's gay, no one really looked up to him so there won't be any children who will get brainwashed.

Also, "One Million Moms" is one of the stupidest organisations ever.

Suddenly have the gay
Oh dear sweet baby Jesus.
Why do adult gay men need comic superheroes as role models?
Umm, they don't? This is like suggesting that Martian Man Hunter shouldn't be a hero because he's not human. I mean, why do adult aliens need a comic superhero as a role model?
These companies are heavily influencing our youth by using children's superheroes to desensitize and brainwash them in thinking that a gay lifestyle choice is normal and desirable.
Brainwashing them to have similar values as another without fully understanding why they are supposed to feel that way. I'm sure they know all about that, what with sensitizing them to thinking homosexuality is abnormal and undesirable.

So we've got the JCPenney/Ellen Degeneres debacle, the Archie Comics fiasco, and now the Gay Superhero thing. OMM, stop pointing to things I should support dang, I already buy all my clothes at JCPenneys and started buying Archie Comics, if I'm going to have to start buying into DC heroes I'm going to be very upset.

I doubt it would be Aquaman, I've heard he sleeps with the fishes.....

I wonder if they would have a problem if it was a villain coming out.

I may not read comics but these "moms" need a new hobby. Can't we just go back to witch burning? I mean at least those had a local feel rather than an internet petition feel.

These people are too much fun. Celebrities can get busted for drugs, sex rings, whatever it is cool that's good for the kids. Gay comic book characters.... there is a line and YOU just crossed it.

And the eternally hilarious argument continues: "We want to be gay so bad that it takes all our willpower and all the meds our psychiatrist can dispense to keep us with our husbands; how can our children hold out if they know they can kiss another boy or girl without being burned as a witch like OUR parents said we would be?!?!"

Because nobody in the history of the world has ever wanted to have heterosexual sex of their own volition. Kinda selling your espoused sexual orientation short there, aren't ya?

[HEADING=2]Hide teh gays! We don't want them turning our kidz homo, guyz![/HEADING]

No, but seriously, someone check their I.Q.'s--I don't want to make fun of the handicap and I'm pretty sure none of them are rocking anything above a 70.

So I wonder if the "Million" Moms realize that DC made this announcement specifically to get the kind of attention that they are being given by being protested against? I mean I'
m not one to sit around and say DC only does things to get attention....O wait that's exactly what I am saying. Should the Gay and Lesbian community be upset that their culture is still being exploited for marketing? or does this fall under the truism that "There is no such thing as bad publicity"?

OMM herpin de derp again!
I caught a pretty bad case of the gay, once. I just couldn't stop shoe shopping and saying girlfriend. Had to lift some weights and grunt loudly while looking at lesbian porn for a week to cure it.

(I bat for both teams, so that joke was pretty lighthearted, lol)

Well I fit somewhere under the LGBT banner and I think this whole thing is shallow, attention seeking and painfully immature. This is how I hear it:

"OMG, guiz, one of our heros is homo! Pretty cool, huh! *winkwink* Huh?!"

If it was genuine, they'd just have shown the character dating a guy or something. Making a big deal out of it is just... fucking stupid. Why do we have to know someone is gay? Or hetero? Or whatever-the-fuck-else? "Gay" isn't a personality trait and it doesn't change anything about someone. So the only reason to make note of it, is for publicity. It's not like wanting to have sex with your own gender is character growth, ffs.

NOT COOL.

It doesn't count if you're wearing high heels and a cocktail dress at the time!

[sub]... come to think about it, lifting weights in high heels would surely be HARDER, so maybe it'd even out...[/sub]

If someone can deadlift a good amount of weight in a pair of high heels and a cocktail dress, I want to meet them, lol.

Hey, Escapist, here's an idea: stop giving these people free publicity. Just ignore them and don't make another news article the next time they pull shit like this. No one cares what they think and no one wants to hear about them

This is part of why I really hope that it'll be Superman who turns out to be gay. Sticking with the case I made here, I think we can rule out every big character but for Cyborg and Superman. While Cyborg is probably the safer bet, Superman turning out to be gay would be such a tremendous slap in the face to a demographic who seriously deserve a tremendous slap in the face. Not only could such a change really revitalize Superman (whose popularity has waned over the years, though apparently not quite as much as I believed when I wrote the first argument), but as a symbol of good will that particular metamorphosis of an incredibly iconic American character would be pretty much the biggest DC could possibly make.

But in all fairness, I'd support almost anything if it pissed off the One Million Moms, or any group with "Family" in the name.

"Parents may have been able to avoid a new character since it would not be one many children have grown to admire," the group wrote on its website [http://www.onemillionmoms.com/IssueDetail.asp?id=456]. But now, a superhero that kids have grown up with will suddenly have the gay. "Who will they choose; Batman, Superman, Flash, Green Lantern, Plastic Man, or another one of their characters that children look up to?" >
I like (read: hate) the implication that being gay somehow makes a superhero not worthy of admiration, as if their actions suddenly mean squat.

Rescued woman: Oh mr. superhero, that was amazing how you managed to stop that runaway train with nothing but your bare hands! You've saved everybody, including my baby! How can we ever repay you?

Superhero: Oh, think nothing of it. All in a day's work. Also, don't do drugs.

Rescued man: Wait a minute, aren't you that gay superhero?

Superhero: Uh...

Rescued woman: Oh my god, he is! Okay, everybody back on the train, we've gotta get this thing back up to speed so we can be saved by someone who prefers sleeping with women. Also, if anyone has drugs, use 'em now; we might not be coming back alive.

I rarely call for an entire organization to commit ritualistic suicide but...

But seriously, this is why DC and Marvel DESPITE it being a shameless publicity stunt, need to do it anyway. The sooner the hate is kicked in the teeth, the faster society progresses. If they chicken out now because of these uptight, willfully ignorant dummy-mummies. I'm going to be very very annoyed with the comic book industry.

Plastic. Man. They don't know what they're talking about.

By the way, homosexuality is a thing someone is born with, and realises it later in life. Someone doesn't actively decide, "Hey - I'm going to live a life of prejudice and ridicule!". And if they do, they're fucking crazy. By the way, I've seen enough Christians support gay-marriage to know that they're following their religion properly. Treat your neighbor as you would want to be treated, be benevolent above all the miscreants, ect, ect, bullshit, preach, preach, ect.

I've also seen enough kids who support their gay-friends in school, as that's typically a hard-time for gay people - school, where you isolate yourself from all the stupid delinquents and inject yourself with 18kilos of smack to get through the day (speaking for myself, that is). Basically, kids already know about homosexuality and the difference between sexual-frenzies and love. That's why we have fucking Sex Ed.

So I'm a dad, and the mother of my children has a tendency to fly of the handle and go on little crusades. She's not a complete idiot (sorry "ex-" might also provide context) but there were many times when I sat there looking after the pram while she went off at whoever had her ire...

So, context out the way, I'm sure that alongside the million moms there are a million dads all facepalming and quietly thinking "Dear god, it doesn't matter for christssake".
