I personally prefer One Piece.
Naruto is good and all, but it only recently broke out of its parallel to 666 Satan.
I don't watch the 4Kids version of either. They suck. The only episode I've seen in English was the one where they introduced Sanji. Ruined the scene where he beat the hell out of that Navy officer. In the manga, Fullbody was losing blood at an alarming rate while Sanji pinned him to the wall. In the 4Kids anime, he was just holding him up. Not to mention Sanji's cigarette was switched out with a loli-pop. Seriously.

Also, the high point of Naruto was the FOIL between Gaara and Naruto. There is supposed to be a FOIL between Sasuke and Naruto, but it is crap. His story telling sucks balls. I haven't cried in Naruto since that epic climax. Series could've ended right then.

One Piece makes me cry every arc ><

EDIT: Also, Oda has estimated OP as having 800-1000 chapters for many years now.
Yes, and then he makes interesting potential in the akatsuki villains, only to have them killed like flies one after another.

Also Jesus talk no jutsu. And training arcs. Blargh.

I have to start watching One Piece again
Started watching on Adult Swim a while ago, got interested, then they cut it.
I was soo disappointed.
Might just go get a few seasons.

As for Naruto, I love it too.
Although I gave up on half the first series..
After the Naruto and Sasuke fight, too many fillers :/

Shippuden is still my favorite list though :D

(everyone's heard of Hanzo Hatori, but I bet no one here can name a chinese ninja off the top of their heads, because chinese ninjas knew to stay hidden and not get famous)
If you're talking about Hattori Hanzō, he was a samurai, not a ninja.

Neither, I stay away from the 100+ episode shonen anime/mangas because I like a story to have an ending, these shows will always just have another big bad appear after the main characters take out the one their against at the moment, after awhile it just becomes tedious (I finished DBZ but that was only because I dedicated so much time to it in my youth I might as well see how it ends).

What kind of series has 2 years of filler with no plot progression whatsoever? I rather One Piece just because of that.

Neither. Avatar: The Last Airbender overpowers both. Also, Digimon.

Those may or may not be the only animes I've ever watched and actually enjoyed, which is to say, "did not claw my eyes out with salad forks to escape".
Yeah, those two are great.

...if you happen to be 12.
Well, it's good thing I was when I saw them, then, isn't it?

And what is this 4kids people are on about?
Good ole sarcasm. Yes, if dubbed then Funimation seems to be the way to go. Although the heavy censoring of 4Kids did inspire the creation of the Abridged series of shows.
Sarcasm? What? Huh? Where be sarcasm?
Oh, sarcasm, how original.
How I love that quote. Just by reminding me of Doctor Horrible you have made my day!

avatar indeed fries both to a crisp. but the problem is. avatar kinda died. they should have made a sequal/prequal/spinoff/ 'a friggin garndning show in the avatar universe for all i care'
but they dident. so fail on avatars part.
also, naruto is nice. as long as you jsut skip the story acrs you dont like XD

I am a fan of the two, One Piece being my favorite of both. Which do you like, if any? I know there are quite a few of you on the escapist who don't. If so, please state a reasoning to your opinion.

(Naruto includes the entire series, Shippuden included.)
For me Naruto was awsome and I still love the series including shippuden but one piece was just a little too ridiculous for me, sure it was intresting but it just got way to crazy for me to stay interested

Stopped watching OP around 5 episodes in. Watched till somewhere in the 100 episode range of Naruto Shippuuden, so that gets my vote even though Naruto isn't that great either. Naruto did have some interesting fights (though most make absolutely no sense).

Never quite got into Naruto, thought the characters were kind of annoying and did'nt serve any real purpose. I did however really like Funimation's version of One Piece, especially the uncut version were you can really get into how interesting the characters and world are in One Piece and how awesome the fights are when they aren't censored.

Tough call...Naruto is starting to jump the shark...but since it will be ending this year....I guess they have to_One piece...That series will never stop being fun.
Source? Or just pure speculation?

Anyway, out of the two I prefer Naruto and have preferred it for a while. One Piece is really good and all but it does drag on a bit. And after 10 years the unique style has become less unique, especially with others that copy / paste it.

I love One Piece. The reason is that the show is insane and i want to keep watching just to see what happens next. And what power the next enemy have.
Never seen Naruto but i have thought about checking it out.

If you're talking about Hattori Hanzō, he was a samurai, not a ninja.
Then explain why he is always portrayed as a ninja, and why his clan is famous as ninjas and why he had a ninja rivalry with Kotaro Fuma. Everything I've ever read about him on the internet (on sites dedicated to real info about the warring states era of Japan) says he was a ninja who worked for the Tokugawa.
First, look at this old drawing of Hattori Hanzo.

Does that look like a ninja to you?

WikiPedia says he was a samurai, and god damn it, he's a samurai. Also, I'm curious, where has he been "portrayed as a ninja"? Where did you learn that his clan is "famous as ninjas"? And in what way was his rivalry with Kotaro Fuma ninja-like, and ninjaesque? Also, what certain sites did you visit that were "dedicated to real info about the warring states era of Japan" that told you he was a "ninja" who worked for "the Tokugawa"?

Never seen One Piece... mostly because the only way of watching it use to be dubbed on tv... I may one day give the subbed uncut version a try...

I never cared much for Naruto... though I still watched it for a while... Wouldn't mind checking out shippuuden someday...

I find that almost every anime will become more terrible the longer it drags on. Most of them that reach the triple digits become weighed down by fillers and even just plot points getting spread out over 30 episodes when it should just take 10. I prefer single season 12-14 episode anime above all else, though 2-3 seasons is fine too, as long as they aren't milking it. Naruto, One Piece, Bleach- they just bore me to death, even if they had a premise that sounded interesting in the beginning.
One piece had a grand total of nine filler arcs, the longest being 11 episodes. The anime has actually grown on the scale of epicness over the span of the show, and the beginning was great too.
Edit: forgot to say it just showed episode 466.
