The popular umm....site? Porn site? Girl power site? WTF is the site even? Doesn't matter i guess.

The Onlyfans website a site which is basically patreon for naked cosplayers, or naked girls being naked in general for a subscription fee, has announced that they are banning porn from the site.

But not really.

Basically sexually explicit material is now banned, so no more pictures of Amouranth with a dildo up her ass are allowed. However nude content is still allowed. So while this seems to be a huge PR move in an attempt to secure advertisers, it isn't really doing the thing that it's saying. The most popular girls on OnlyFans weren't doing hardcore porn-type stuff as far as i could tell. While yes the girls did post in cosplay with tits and ass out hanging out, none of it was technically "sexually" explicit.

That is of course assuming that just because you are showing your pussy, doesn't mean you are doing porn technically. I guess.

The line is kind of vague, because the whole point of the nude content is to be sexually titilating. So the whole thing is kind of badly worded and I feel like a lot of the expected bad actors will continue to just do their thing even if it breaks the rule "technically". In the end I don't think this will change anything unless they have to kick off all nudity entirely. In which case the site will die because that's the only reason people go there.

I suspect that this will indirectly lead to more injuries and deaths among women, just like the closure of Backpage. Probably to a lesser extent, though.

I think she is/was a Disney kids TV star who like was promoting and advertising she would get an OnlyFans and start doing nudes when she turned 18, like the day of, the minute of midnight on her birthday she was getting naked. And she made millions the first day off dudes who wanted to see her barely legal naked body.

And OnlyFans, good luck. They should have created a separate site with the same tech for non-porn stuff. OnlyFans is synonymous with porn. Your favorite chef, or news caster, or random Youtuber isn't going to get an OnlyFans just to share behind the scenes photos or their gumbo recipe. If I were to say "Check out my OnlyFans" to random people I meet, no one is expecting just a regular blog about My Little Pony and Warhammer. They're expecting crotch shots, and that's how OnlyFans sold itself.
Like when Playboy stopped doing nude photos, and it turned out no, everyone was lying when they said they were reading it just for the articles.

If I read this right - and there's no guarantee I am - they're drawing a demarcation line between content that is merely highly sexual; nude/erotic modelling/cosplay/exercise etc. and actually pornographic; see your comment about Amouranth. Presumably this is because there are different advertising standards attached to both. Like advertisers would clamour like mad to get their shit either side of an episode of Game of Thrones in all its nude tits, bloody violence etc but no one wants their aspirin advertised next to someone getting it up the strap, regardless of thematic links.

Former Disney Channel starlet going down the Lindsay Lohan/Miley Cyrus/Demi Lovato road of radical rebranding.

No.
She was 23 when she created an account in OF - not "just 18". Promised nudes, whole bunch of losers coughed up $200 apiece and she made over a million bucks within 24 hours (plus another million by the end of the week). But she never delivered the nudes, so everyone asked for their money back, which all but bankrupted OF. Days later they implemented new rules and restrictions that fucked over every other sex worker content creator on the site, limiting fees and delaying payouts.
He response was "social experiment lol" or something. Specifically that she was preparing for an upcoming role with a director who flat out denied her story.

Well they're idiots. Looks like other porn site will be more than happy to pick up the slack.
Yeah basically I just expect these people to simply shift to another platform and I wouldn't be shocked to see a new platform rise up to take the money.

Well what has happened in all likelihood, is that OnlyFans has become a big enough entity that it has begun to get serious advertising offers. However that advertising requires the downgrade of allowed content, or perhaps they got an offer from a big advertiser and want more ad money so they are making this move in an attempt to attract more higher paying adverts.

Which is fine, but it defeats the whole purpose of the site from what I've seen. Or maybe not and the money for just Lewd photos is fine and they are just chasing away the extremely explicit material.

Still a funny story though.

Surely then the smart thing to do would have been to spin Onlyfans off as their adults only subsidiary and let all the non-porn/erotic content people shift to their all ages/advertisers platform and continue to rake in money hand over fist?

Pure greed is what this is. How many successful groups with paid subscription models are going to drive themselves into obsolescence trying to double-dip with advertisements before companies finally learn this lesson? Cable tv only got away with it for so long from monopoly powers that no longer exist.

Then who was the 17 year old who was advertising her OnlyFans and it was a big deal? I swear I remember that making the news and making the site look very predatory.

Edit: It was Danielle Bregoli, the CatchMeOutside girl from that talk show where she attacked like her mom.

Because the people who would be on the adult site would likely just shift over to the "PG" version of the site and push the boundaries as much as possible to get that new AD money.

Think about how many girls are damn near doing chatterbate/porn-esque shit on Twitch? Why would they not go to Pornhub or any other site that would allow them to do wahtever the fuck they want? Simple answer is, the ad money, and the audience. Because Twitch doesn't require age-verification they can show their titties to all the horney 12 year olds with complete freedom.

The first thought I had was "is having a buttplug in you considered sexually explicit?" then it was "surely if a tail was attached to it that's basically clothing".

Anyway, good luck to them lol. Doesn't Pornhub already basically do what OnlyFans offers? Except I guess a lot of these women would prefer not to be associated with the word "porn". Seems like its every other day you hear about the latest influencer, YouTuber, or B-list celebrity opening up an OnlyFans only for the fans to be disappointed with bikini or lingerie pictures. And yet, they keep on paying. So even without actual sex, I think OnlyFans still has a bit more longevity.

It's a payment processor/law suit thing.

Step one off this stuff not happening is getting rid of SEASTA/FOSTA, which will never happen because nobody want to be against the "anti-sex-trafficking law" despite those laws being literally counter productive.

Okay, so riddle me this: if Visa and MasterCard are doing this, how the hell do any of the other porn companies get their money? I mean I know cash is king and all that but who's getting them their payments? Are they going through Deutsche Bank? Someone must be facilitating their legal transactions.
