So I'm currently looking at the Fallout Bundle: (https://www.bundlestars.com/en/bundle/fallout-bundle) which includes the original two Fallouts on Steam. What I'm wondering is if the current versions on Steam are the same as the ones on GOG? I know GOG updates old games and so I'm wondering if what GOG did applies to the Steam versions as well.

When in doubt, go with GOG; they go the extra mile and optimize older titles to make sure they run on modern systems. If for some reason they can't get the game to work on a certain OS they'll mention it right there on the store page. Steam on the other hand tends to just plop down the original version and list the system requirements from when it was first launched. Let the buyer beware.

Also, if you buy any Fallout title from GOG you'll get free copies of the first two Elder Scrolls games as well (also optimized).

GOG!

1) No DRM.
2) Better tech support, at least from my experience.
3) Goodies.
4) Game updated to latest version, plus some additional work so you can play it on 'modern' systems.
5) Did I mention NO DRM?

GoG is the way to go in this case. Theyve spent the time to remove bugs in the game that would commonly crash on newer Operating systems. If you do buy the steam version you may experience frequent crashes and frame drops that make the game unplayable. The only thing you can do then is to contact customer support and steams CS is, at best, abyssmal. Its possible you wont experience that but again GOG has taken the time to fix the game so Ild just avoid it all together and buy it there

Nope, WOULD NOT RECOMMEND the GOG release.

Usually I'm the first one to advocate for GOG, because screw DRM, but in this case I'm disappointed in them since what they're selling is the European censored version. There are no kids in this version, and God knows what else they've decided to cut.

With Steam it's a little bit unclear. Quoting from the the game's forum, "whether you end up with a censored version or not depends on where you live/what country you purchase the game". So I guess if you want the authentic Fallout experience, Steam is the better option here.

I haven't played the Bethesda releases of Fallout 1 & 2 on GOG yet but GOG's older version of Fallout 2 did have children while Fallout 1 didn't. Still if you do want children you can download the Fallout 1 Children Patch (you can just search that, you can find it on No Mutants Allowed for sure, probably some other places.) It's annoying, yes, but you can get around it.

No difference whatsoever. As far as I can tell, the current versions are both identical - and they both come with fixes preinstalled. Old Interplay-sold versions of Fallout needed fixing on Steam, but once Bethsoft got a hold of the license they updated the Steam version and I'm pretty sure the GOG version is similarly updated (it's not the same as the old Interplay release, though. Comes with less goodies).
