Interesting. The whole Wampa thing was a bonus level in Star Wars Battlefront 2 I think.
Oh well.
...
...
...
WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO MAKE BATTLEFRONT 3?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

The wampas...I'm sure that was a level in one of the Star Wars arcade games. Not battlefront 2, althought it may have been there too, but like, an older game. I distinctly remember it...

This sounds more along the lines of what Family Guy would do to parody star wars, rather than an actual script

The original script was probably written by Lucas and the final draft was probably edited by ANYBODY else.
Leigh Brackett wrote the original ESB script. It says so right there in the article you just pretended to read.

Lucas and Lawrence Kasdan rewrote it into the final script utilized in the production of the movie.

Pick ten of your favorite movies, then go through the trivia on IMDB for them all, and good odds at least 9 of them will mention an earlier script with many differences. This is really no surprise at all.
And contrary to popular belief, Lucas didn't have the whole saga planned. He just did each movie one at a time, fitting them in as he could. If he did have it planned, he would have had a set bible and there would have been much better consistency between the prequels and the sequels. There have been at least a couple of times he has denied ever planning Episodes 7 through 9. Before the prequels ever got put on paper.

They should figure out a way to put this in Fringe.
They are doing just fine with Fringe. There doesn't need to be any muddying of that excellent series with this kind of stuff.

In the original movie, Han Solo was going to be an alien, and Luke was going to be an old general.

Empire is, and probably always will be, my favourite film of all time. So it's strange seeing this weird alternate setup, I don't think it would've been if this actually made it to the final cut

Well I saw GL interviewed talking about how at least the first couple of films were originally already written out as one huge script, so like so many things in life this is all George Lucas' fault.
BTW: I hate IMDB, it's such a bloody mess. I'd rather wikipedia's well formatted lies.

Well they had a poster for Season 11 of The West Wing on a bus stop in this weeks episode, that's all I mean.
I didn't think they should base an episode around an alternative plot for the Star Wars franchise.

Well, it was probably like this until Hurley sent in his draft.

Thank God this turned out the way it did... perhaps the prequels could have used this kind of drastic revision?

Star Wars in it's entirety was originally going to be based heavily on Dune, but alot of the more obvious references were cut out. alot of dune inspired stuff remains though.

-The entirely desert planet.

-The far reaching and all powerful empire.

-the youth coming to terms with the great power within him, giving him the strength to lead his people to victory against above empire.

-The main villan turns out to be related to the main character in some way. (Darth Vader = Father, Baron Harkonnen = Grand Father.)

Once you see all the revisions of the script and how different it all turned out, it kinda starts to make sense why the 3 prequels sucked as bad as they did. Turns out giving FULL AND ULTIMATE POWER to George Lucas wasn't such a hot idea.

Guys the source's recursive into this one

http://www.craveonline.com/entertainment/film/article/first-draft-of-the-empire-strikes-back-surfaces-102189#

It appears there was alot of filming for the Wampa's attacking the base, although they should make a game mode in Battlefront where Chewbacca fights a Wampa as in this script, and it also made out the Wampa's as a more intelligent species then as the movie portrayed them as they knowingly invaded the base to get the Rebels out.

The script was released without Lucas's permission

Can we have one where the Empire wins? That would be totally awesome.
No a clone of his Grand dad not of Jango Fett.

This is a very interesting article that makes you think about how the science fiction world that we all love could have been radically different today. For instance that wompa scene on hoth would have been pretty cool, if a little strange. And what would the universe be like if Darth Vader wasn?t Lukes father?

Ohhhhhhh, I gotcha. That would've been better than West Wing. That poor alternative Earth having to deal with that series being dragged out. No wonder they are so cranky and want to destroy our universe.
