I've always worried about the insane levels of inflation in JRPG worlds... you start in a small town where you pay usually 10 or 50 of the games currency for a night in the Inn... This is usually a good indication on how large the summs of money will be later in the game too, if the first in costs 100 then the swords at the end of the game will propbably be in the high thousands...
Anyway... back to the rediculousness... So you move on to the next town... usually a bit bigger, and a bit more exotic, and this town will have an inn that costs more... again, this is understandable, rent a hotel in Skegness, and then London and you will see!
As you progress you will see bigger and bigger inns/hotels which will cost more and more until you will probably be paying about 10X the ammount for what is essentially the SAME SERVICE!
Finally, and it happens with EVERY JRPG, you will always find yourself in a tiny outback backwards village in the 2nd half of the game... it will be hard to find, disconnected from the rest of the world and free from whatever tyranny/troubles the rest of the world are suffering... it will also usually be Japanese/East Asian themed, or be completely Jungle Tribal. Now for some reason, this village will also keep in touch with the cost of sleeping (Why does an unvisited village seem to only consist of shops and facilities for visitors anyway?) and even though it's nearly always smaller than your main characters home village, it still costs 10x as much!? Not only that, for some reason the village will produce some massively powerful weapons in comparison, and sell some of the best stuff up to that point...!?
This is made even worse (the inflation thing) in a game like FFV where all inns from start to finish are essentially THE SAME PLACE COPIED AND PASTED!!! Well, the beds are at least, so you pay more for nothing!
The ultimate overpriced inns were in one JRPG, and I cannot remember for the life of me which it was, but they had Inns you paid to replenish health and magic, where just touching a save point did exactly that too... free...!!
And there was another game (again, can't remember) which healed you after battles anyway, so was pointless even having them there...! :/
