Okay, she's now live, and I've had a bit of a play around with her.

I'll admit I'm not the best player at this game, but Ashe just feels... not very good.
Like, her damage is fine and all, but she feels wayyyy too squishy.

I assume it's a hitbox issue, (I've been told that Ashe's head is absolutely massive), because even if you're running around with the full 200 health, it feels like you're running around with only 2hp, given how quickly she dies.

tbh, I'd still rather just play Hanzo. He puts out more damage than she does, he can one-shot things, and he's quite difficult to kill due to his tiny hitbox (especially his head).

Assuming my findings are correct (and it's not just me being bad), this kinda puts Ashe in the same place as Pharah.
Like Pharah, Ashe is going to need a pocket healer essentially 24/7 in order to get anything done. Additionally, Mercy's damage boost bumps a scoped Ashe headshot to just over 200 damage, which allows her to one-shot enemies.

So Ashe+Mercy could be a decent combo (much like Pharah+Mercy), and Mercy's been in a bad spot for a while, so this could be something to bring her back a bit. But I'm not sure it's particularly good game design for a hero to be basically nothing more than an 'attachment' to another hero. I guess time will tell.
Hanzo is almost impossible to headshot from the front or side, which is why he is so hard to kill.

It's because his arms and bow have a huge hitbox, which partially block his face when not drawn and when he has the bow drawn basically completely blocks his head except from behind, meaning you can't get crit hits on him unless RNGesus favors you and it slips one in for you.

Tell me about it. Hanzo has one of the most squirrely hitboxes in the entire game, second only to probably Lucio. Even something simple like strafing while nocking an arrow causes his upper body to twist and contort in a very obnoxious way.

Going through the hero roster, the hitboxes all kinda make sense. You can see the design philosophy the devs were going for.
The more dangerous or 'threatening' a hero is, the easier their hitbox is to hit. Widow's hitbox is like a lollipop, with a large head on top a slender body. With both Ashe and McCree, their hats count as part of their 'head'. Pharah has the biggest hitbox of all the 200hp heroes. Junkrat's hitbox is very 'stocky' and doesn't deform or contort as he moves around like it does with other heroes. Bastion's hitbox is massive and rectangular and impossible to miss. Etc, etc.
On the flipside, heroes that typically don't pose much of a threat (and generally require a bit more survivability, ie: mostly the support heroes) tend to have hitboxes that are smaller and/or much more difficult to hit.

Well, Hanzo goes completely against this design philosophy. And I'm not sure why. They've basically given him the hitbox of a support hero, and yet he's one of the most threatening heroes on the battlefield.

Also, a quick note about Ashe: Her legendary skins change the color of the sights on her gun. Everything from cyan blue, to orange, to pink.
So if you think a different sights color might make it easier for you to aim with her, then try out her other skins.

But I find this a bit bizarre. Blizzard just added new colorblind options into the game, but in order to change the color of Ashe's gun sights you have to hand over in-game credits. I thought this game wasn't supposed to be pay-to-win, hmm...

OW's hitboxes have always been a mix of almost Valve-like perfection some Kafka-esque Obsidian Games laughing stock.

Like how Reinhart's shield hitbox is almost pixel-perfect....but then we have the Hammer hitbox or Roadhog's hook. Or how Widow and Hanzo used to be able to hit people around corners.

Or Doomfist being able to miss by the entire width of a character and still get a hit with his charge etc.
