Man Deemed Too Old to Be a Threat Fatally Stabs Woman the Same Way He Murdered Wife 40 Years Ago
A 77-year-old Maine man has been convicted of the stabbing death of a woman, which is the second time in four decades he has been found guilty of such a crime.

Albert Flick was convicted Wednesday of stabbing a woman 11 times in front of her twin boys in a broad daylight attack in 2018.

The fatal attack was the second committed by Flick, who previously served 25 years behind bars for the 1979 stabbing murder of his then-wife, also in front of children ? their's and his wife's young daughter from a previous relationship, reports WCSH, WGME and the Sun Journal.

The latest killing came just a few years after he was released from jail for assaulting yet another woman. In that case, a judge had rejected the prosecutor's urging for a lengthy sentence, stating that Flick's age ? he was then in his late 60s ? diminished him as a threat and did not warrant a long incarceration, reports the Associated Press.

They keep making up excuses for letting dangerous people out and they keep harming people when they do. Why do they keep letting dangerous people have access to more victims? They allow predators access to victims while in prison, then they allow predators free reign to harm people when they let them out and all I keep hearing is excuses as to why they should do this and nothing to actually help keep people safe from violent people. There is no victim protection in this country and until something seriously changes there never will be.

Every time I hear of another case where they let out someone dangerous on some lame excuse and someone gets hurt or killed I just get that much more pissed. Where does it end and what would it take for something to actually be done to protect people at some point?

I didn't want to be the first one to say this but... that dude looks awfully white. I wonder if there is a correlation

You DIDN'T, huh? Your comment says something else.

OT: It's not like he could've got a life sentence for assault. The ideal would be that for every serious crime the sentence is for life but if experts evaluate that the person is no longer a threat to society then they are set free. The penal system doesn't have infinite resources, however.

I waited a about 15 hours after first seeing this post before making the comment. Black people generally get long sentences for the same crimes. I would suggest that this wouldn't have happened at all if he wasn't white, so maybe shift resources from one demographic to another for repeat offenders

I'm sorry, Trunkage, I was getting ready for a beach day today. Which I just came back from.

Here's the problem, though. It's starting to feel bad in my chest. Like, I know because people looked at this man and saw their grandpa (I didn't, because my Granddad looked more like Morgan Freeman) and gave him kindness. It's wrong to do, and families suffer for it.

But that's where I'm getting hung up. Families are suffering. I want to make a point, but I'm just drowning in the senselessness of it. This happened in front of her boys. Her boys lost their mother and they will probably see that for the rest of their lives. It will be a miracle if they are anywhere near whole again. And that hurts me to my very soul.

You know, maybe this would make me a terrible Judge or something. But I don't get why LOOKS should impact on your decision.

The judge look at his record. Sees there is a violent streak but also sees that he is old and says: 'he's cool. Let's only focus on the later.'
