Pac-Man: The Dark Truth

The game, Pac-Man, seems perfectly innocent at first glance: A yellow blob, crawling around the screen and gobbling up dots. But did you ever think to yourself: What are the dots? Why does Pac-Man need so many? Who IS Pac-Man? All shall be revealed in this thesis:

I believe Pac-Man is the tale of a drug addict, and his quest to consume as many hallucinogenic pills as possible. Once he has ingested all the pills in an area, that represents his "clearing out" the current maze of alleyways and the dealers that populate them, and he is forced to move on. The "ghosts" he see are merely hallucinations brought on by the drugs, and if they were to catch him that would represent a "bad trip" (have you ever noticed how he turns himself INSIDE OUT when he's caught? It looks perfectly innocent at first glance, but could you imagine that happening to a human? That to me is the base definition of a bad trip). On the other hand, if he were to get one of the few "super pills" (representatives of high-quality drugs, and the difficulty of obtaining such materials) that would represent a very GOOD trip, and he would be able to "overcome" his fears.

This is all merely a theory, but I thought I'd present my evidence to you all and make it available for discussion. Please feel free to use this thread as a means to discuss your own similar theories about the unhealthy creature we know as "Pac-Man".

Awesome theory but I thought that it would be more set out like this:

Super points : Drug dealers
Ghosts : Policemen
Yellow dots : Pills.

Thats why you always get killed or "Stopped" by a policeman :)

If there is one thing Bioshock taught us it would be that Pac-Man is a cheese eating smaller cheeses.
The cheese stands alone!

I can't say that I have never heard this before. Unfortunately, Pac-Man is just about eating food, specifically about a man who eats a lot of food and bites people who try to stop him eating all of the food. The sound he makes is actually supposed to be a comic Japanese sound effect of food eating, like Nom Nom Nom.

Reminds me of a joke I once heard regarding violent video games:

People arn't affected by violence in video games, if video games could control people all OAPs would be sitting along in dark rooms constantly munching pills and being terrified of gho.... oh...

Here is my thesis

Pacman is easy to draw and takes little memory, dots are easy to draw and take little memory. The multicolored ghosts are a cute way to make arbitrary enemies, and turning inside out is an easy and cool way to take him off the screen

But if you want to make it all about drugs, whatever

Is it possible the Fruit are Drug dealers and the Super Points are weapons. It would explain why the Police officers suddenly become vunerable.

I like the drugs theory, I have never heard any other suggestions that work.

Hmm that does sound interesting, though I'm absolutely sure the creators of Pac Man did not intend that to be the underlying theme. But I do not support you theory because drug addicts aren't going to keep consuming hallucinogenic pills in one go, they would overdose and die after a few dozen, and Pac Man doesn't die from eating dots.

I think the whole things a trip, as in the dude has had a few and passed out this is what he's thinking, not that Pac man is the physical dude popping gazillions of pills.

Otherwise he should get more sketched out and have a sort of fit after the first row.

Been there, done that.

A bit NSFW. And weird, but not more so than any other VGcats comic.

I feel sorry for Pac.
