Painkiller: Hell and Damnation Hits on Halloween

New screens and a sexy collector's edition herald the impending arrival of Painkiller: Hell and Damnation.

So you've heard Painkiller [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/57-Painkiller] but just can't bring yourself to bother with a shooter that's been kicking around for the better part of a decade. Fair enough. Perhaps you might be interested in Painkiller: Hell and Damnation, a hi-def overhaul that brings the game up to date for current PCs and consoles.

Painkiller: Hell and Damnation will be released in both a standard edition and, for fans and gamers with an extra sawbuck to spare, a nicely packed Collector's Edition that will include stickers, "postcards from Hell," an art book, a couple of posters, a ten-track soundtrack CD, a making-of DVD, a special in-game tarot card and an exclusive multiplayer skin. Both editions of the game include all the murderous action of the original Painkiller plus the very solid Battle Out of Hell expansion.

The "uncut" version of Painkiller: Hell and Damnation comes out for the PC on October 31, while the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game, as well as a "toned-down" PC edition, will be available on January 22, 2013. It's just a revamp, right? Or are there new weapons and baddies? And is that giant stake gun still as fun? Not like I won't check it out eventually anyway, I'm just curious to know.

So its only the original with the expansion pack why not Overdose and all those resurrections, redemtions and there was something more, I'm not going to terrbly miss those but they maight as well throw those in as well. Doom 3 BFG edition now this and I haven't even finished all of my Borderlands 2 and Torchlight 2 runs.

From what ive seen of the two games, H&D is pretty much a recreation of the original only made using high-defininition fairy dust and a game engine thats better optimised for modern systems.

Also last i heard the soundtrack for H&D would come in both classic and remixed.

Edit: Thought id add a video from someone with the benefit of having played the original, and the beta version of H&D.

Frankly i dont find anything wrong with the original on the pc, can't call it ugly.
But i really love painkiller and really could use a shooter like that again. serious sam 3 just didnt work for me for some reason.

Yea some of the follow ups really sucked and one was totally broken, but that was due too them beeing fan made (not that that is a guaranteed failure but you cant expect studio production values)

I saw this on TB's channel when he made a video of it, and as someone who missed the game when it first came out, I can heartily say I'm looking foreword to this.
Also, a toned down version? Wha? Why's that have its own release date?

i love this game. its just awesome and the music is even more awesome. i was really happy when i saw the MP3 files in the folder and just burn it on to a cd and listen to the heavy metal music in my car
for this remake. well, not really hot about it. i still can play the original one. the add on was crap, so as the other sequels.
but if its cheap, i might get it. cant harm to play this great game with some tuned up graphics.

I still got Hell Wars which is a original Xbox hybrid of the original Painkiller and Battle Out of Hell. Anyone else got that old game?
