Facial animations are great. The faces themselves are pretty ugly - I'm kind of at a loss as to why they've got all this mo-cap done, and then used some of the flattest, blandest textures on the characters' faces.

Anyway, I am slowly becoming more interested in this. I hope most of it has been written by Bondi though, because I don't know how much more of Rockstar's pacing I can take.
Yeah that's true, but they do really come to life when 'animated'... which is a little funny saying, because they're not really animated anymore. Strange.

Anyway, the one thing that's always bothered me about Rockstar, is their incredibly stubborn track record with the PC. Why they don't cross-platform with any regularity, or any priority, is beyond me. Especially for something like this. They really should have done this technology Top-down with the PC. Man, it could be f-ing spectacular with PC hardware. Even average consumer PC's are more powerful than consoles. Even just a decent port would work, add in some options and DirectX 10/11, then bam it's incredible.

Shame, really. Either way, it still looks great. People can say what they want about Rockstar, but the truth is, they've been pushing boundaries in gaming for some time now, and now they're doing a genre that no one has touched on for several generations (tech). (There was Heavy Rain, but it was mostly an interactive movie. This looks to be much, much more involved.)

They seem to have finally crossed the uncanny valley. Also, holy shit John Noble [http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0633604/] is in a video game. John Noble is awesome.

I hope to god there's a PC version, eventually.
Wait What? John Noble's awesome. Who does he play in the game?
No idea, but there [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/trailers/2558-L-A-Noire-The-Technology-Behind-Performance] he is at 0:26.
Holy crap you're right! I had only read the article before and didn't even know there was a video. That's really cool that they got him on board. I'm pretty excited for this game.

I'm looking forward to this. I have suffered through CSI demo's before and they are so slow I really hope that is the one thin Rockstar don't do! Perhaps the demo's are a bad thing to go buy... However! I am a rockstar fan so I will definitely be purchasing this (hopeful) little gem when it is released.

This game looks amazing, really impressive what Team Bondi and Rockstar have done, I just hope it plays as good as it looks. Pre-ordered and ready to go.

This is all good but a lot of you guys are giving too much credit to Rockstar, a lot of the game is jointly being created by an Australian company called Team Bondi, Rockstar is creating different parts of the game jointly with Team Bondi, funding it and making the presentation good (people like Rockstar for their great games so putting them on the cover helps with sales and interesting and stuff.)

Considering this is what I do all day...
It's kind of weird that I still want this game. Though I get the feeling I will either be annoyed at inaccuracies or be unable to separate real procedure from that in the game and be very bad at it. (Kind of like how I'm much better at firing a real gun than a video game one)

I'm extremely excited... but that first screenshot is really a bit too much for me.

Still, this looks like the ultimate detective game. A shame all everyone really talks about is facial animation.
Speaking as an actual detective; You'd be surprised how much detective work is just reading people. (everything CSI has taught you is complete science fiction)

edit: I investigate thefts, robberies, etc. Not murders... but the procedures are pretty similar.
From what I heard too detective and forensic work is actually done by heaps and heaps of people or something like that.
It's unrealistic not only because it takes 5 or 6 different specialists (per episode) to do what they do but... we cannot program a computer to reconstruct what someone looks like by a hair sample found at a crime scene or any of that kind of crap. Hell MATCHING DNA takes weeks.

This game looks like actual 'good ol' fashioned' detective work.
