Pen-And-Paper Creator Talks Cyberpunk 2077

Seen the latest braindance yet, or are you a retrobore?

"[CD Projekt RED's] quoting back to me things I forgot," says Mike Pondsmith, author of the pen-and-paper RPG that the Polish developer is building on for its Cyberpunk 2077 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/trailers/6703-Cyberpunk-2077-Teaser-Trailer]. He's really looking forward to seeing what CD Projekt RED will do with the ideas he and his fellow punks were playing with way back when; ideas about people and how they behave, rather than how they play with their techno-toys.

"Working with Mike Pondsmith is a great experience for the studio," says Adam Badowski of CD Projekt RED. "Many of the people behind Cyberpunk 2077 have played his game and having his support is very important for us."

The studio is busy world-building right now, with its talking heads debating the nature of the latest entertainment phenomenon, up and running. [http://gallery.mailchimp.com/e44aa774fbc4ca04a704d673a/files/BRAINDANCE_PRO_CON_CP77.pdf]

Cyberpunk 2077 is a dystopian future game set in fictional west coast urban hellscape Night City - "nobody ever leaves Night City, except in a body bag," as Bes Isis used to say - and is still listed as "coming when it's ready" for the moment, which probably means 2015. So be patient, choomba, as there's a ways to go yet.

I'm getting a good vibe here. I wish them the best of luck with the development.

Thanks for sharing.

ok, im going to play devil's advocate here for just a moment: The trailer had me excited but these quotes from the game...I'm sorry but the bunch of cheesy, pun-sounding "dialect of the future" quotes given do not raise good alarms for me. Yes realisticly and logicly when you want to build a new world it makes sense to change up things like how we speak and what we are speaking about. BUT it shouldn't just look outright "Look at us! We talk like we are computers because we are now!" Doesnt sound like the best way to handle it.

I'm not doubting that the game will be good. I fully expect to love everything they say about it and buy it on release day. But small things like those lines of dialogue can set up a small caution barrier. Hope it all works itself out and they make it seem much more natural once we are in the world ourselves.

Getting a Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines feel for some reason. I know it will probably be more like the witcher but some part of me wants more. Overall a good feeling for this game.

Sounds like Pondsmith and CDPR have some real ambitions for this project. I hope they can deliver and I am seriously looking forward to what they can come up with.

I will better your proposal: Mike needs to be the crazy DJ who will comment on your exploits as the game progresses, exagerating with glee, or even downplaying them with snide. Make it happen, CDPRed!!!

Just remember, though. If you're going the Fallout 3/NV way, you would maybe like to give us more than 5 or 6 songs...

What are you talking about? There are already two Shadowrun games that were founded in Kickstarter:

When it comes to kickstarters its always hit or miss maybe those games will be made and maybe they wont i hope so but in the meantime this game should do.
