In counter-protest, I'm going to eat double the usual amount of meat I usually would today. And in fact I'll repeat this whenever I hear about PETA in the news.

Y'hear that, PETA? You're directly causing increased demand for meat. (Delicious bacon and tuna steaks, in my case).

I thought the Mudkipz reference was a nice touch. Doesn't make the game any less pointless though...

It looks like the people who made this had a basic understanding of the mechanics of people but none of the science that makes it work. I encountered a few glaring problems along the way.

-Humans dont have types, so moves are super effective and barely effective without any rhyme or reason. Choosing the right teammate to throw out becomes as random as a coin toss.

-They didnt give you any items to heal your team after battle. PETA is forcing you to have at least some of your team faint.

-I'm not too sure about this one, but isnt a move that raises both attack and defense in one go kind of overpowered in the older system that doesnt have the spec. stats for those 2?

-The second boss spams trap like an asshole.

Put all this together with some rather horrible writing and it makes this thing a rather huge waste of time.

That and PETA is a horrible organization that doesnt deserve your attention what so ever.

i was at best not very amused, until nurse joy "rewarded" me with a 3 minute video of animals being abused. this is a worse idea than the peta "porn" site that didn't even have a single nip.

amazing that they have the balls to actually use the pokemon name too. if they wanted to pick on pokemon, they should have went the parody route instead of basically begging nintendo to sue their pants off

Ahhhh PETA, what a bunch of fucking loons. I'm all for preventing cruelty to animals but fanatics only damage their cause. I'd much rather support something like RSPCA, at least they behave rationally.

Edit: I read the Escapist article on this before I touched it, I took their advice and avoided the video.

PETA doesn't give two shits if their logic is sound. They want attention, they want people talking about PETA. They don't care who or what about, so they aim for people who are the most likely to raise a fuss about it and spread the word. And if there's one group that has proven they are willing to raise shitstorms all across the Internet, it's gamers.

Funnily enough, this is probably the closest that'll ever come to an 18+ rated Pokémon game.
18+ game maybe. Just because of how incredibly loud PETA decided to be with the gore and violence. In terms of mature story with familiar gaming mechanics, I suggest Pokemon: World of Chaos on Newgrounds. It has a dark, violent story about Pokemon being ravenous killing machines and humans trying to survive and fight off this new threat. I enjoy it, so just don't let PETA get wind of it.

It's hilarious, but the irony. Team Plasma were, in an attempt to be slightly less generic, acting for the freedom of all Pokemon no matter how well they are treated, whether or not there is a problem, or their own wishes. THEY ARE THE PETA OF POKEMON.

(seriously, how does a Pikachu using Quick Attack do more damage than Thundershock?).
I don't think you fully appreciate exactly how quick it really is my friend.

That was really hilarious and no doubt Pokemon fans will be up in arms completely failing to see the humour.

The fallout should be entertaining to witness.

Seems a bit redundant, i mean the first game basically had N be the Peta of the Pokemon Universe, sure he and Team Plasma uses Pokemon themselves, but at least N releases his once he's done.

If anything, compared to Ghetsis, at least he had a reason to be "evil" in the protagonist's eyes.

Ghetsis used Pokemon as slave labor to mine out the Plasma castle under the Elite Four's building, and Isolating a kid that may or may not be his son from humans, so that he'd be humble enougth to be picked by Reshiram/Zekrom; to do this he isolated him from Humans and only had pokemon for company...with the side effect of being able to understand them.

After losing to the player, Ghetsis basically went insane, saying that he never loved N and that he was planning to Usurp his Legendary Dragon once N summoned it in the first place except N had his own agenda. Ghetsis basically wanted him dead because he didn't have ultimate power.

He was fed up of being a sheep for the Sages so he wanted to become king, by dethroning N.

I'm aware of Pikachu's base stats, but this isn't Electro Ball we are talking about, it's Quick Attack. Unless you EV train the hell out of Pikachu, his Special Attack will always be higher than his Attack.

Oh boy, where to begin with this one.

Okay, I'm not sure if PETA is aware that Team Plasma is actually THEM in the Pokemon sense. Team Plasma talks a big game about releasing Pokemon and cease capturing or even interacting with them, all the while its members have Pokemon in Pokeballs and engage in battles. It is later revealed by their true leader that it was all a ruse in order to gain power by overwhelming the world with their caught Pokemon (and their hacked Hydreigon. Yes, check when it evolves, that's a hacked Pokemon!).

Similarly, PETA are only interested in the rights of WILD animals, in that they should be released from zoos and research facilities and protected in the wild. As far as domesticated animals/pets or mixed breed animals are concerned, they want them all to be taken away from human ownership and exterminated.

In terms of their little Black and Blue version, it completely misrepresents the game by being too violent and fighting against humans. Their game mechanics suck, too (seriously, how does a Pikachu using Quick Attack do more damage than Thundershock?).

So yeah, like the Tanooki suit incident, PETA is just garnering attention with the release of a new, popular game by creating an inaccurate mess of a game and stumbling over their own lack of understanding or simple research.
Aaaaaand thread. Someone e-mail this beautiful post to PETA and tell them to have nice day.

Seriously though, that is spot on. Whoever is running the PR department at PETA should not only be fired, but beaten with a sack of oranges for not giving consideration that Pokemon is not real and that picking fights with the gaming community is downright irresponsible and senseless.

Cute, I get it.

But let me get this straight, we can't even make imaginary creatures fight each other. This is like an extension of 1984, this isn't thought crime, its thought animal abuse.

Yes Pokemon is all about monsters fighting against each other, but you have to heal them magically and no one ever seems to die, cock fighting and dog fighting animals should be so lucky. Of course I don't think i have played Pokemon since Red/Blue so maybe it got a lot darker since then.
