anc[is]Theme park was crap, and dungeon keeper was crap too. Felt like an awesome game got broken down and I only got 1/3 of the pieces
Do you take any enjoyment in life?

Theme Park was pretty damn fun and while I've never played Dungeon Keeper, Dungoen Keeper 2 nis one of my most played and favourite games.

OT: Great for him, he's really enthusiastic and I'd love to meet him one day :)

Hopefully at Gamescom *fingers crossed*

Tim Schafer is hosting a show where Molyneux is receiving an award.
That sound you hear is the GDC's credibility flying out the window...
Yeah man, totally, like, what's up with these original and talented developers being celebrated? Where's mah Call of Duty and Halo so the bros and I can totally get our game on!?

/sarcasm.
you fool... he was saying that Tim schaeffer should be receiving the award and that PM should be hosting because Schaeffer has done more innovative and entertaining games than PM.

Yes I do, in good games. Roller Coaster Tycoon was way better. And for DK1 at least, any RTS would have been better than that dumbed down evil lair building sim. Maybe DK2 is better, but based on Peter's track record, probably not. But that's just my opinion, don't want to get personal

Does this mean, with reference to the definition of LRR's life time achievement award, that he should stop making games?

I did enjoy fable, thought it was short (havn't played 2 or 3 because of the xbox 360 exclusivity). I enjoyed Theme Part World and Theme Park Inc at the time, but now, I prefer Rollercoaster Tycoon 3. I think I got more satisfaction from Rollercoaster Tycoon.

If you play Theme Park you notice how juvinile it is and how unimmersive. However, you could argue Thrill Ville (the spiritual sequal to Rollercoaster Tycoon) is the same. And it is. When a theme park creating game defies the laws of logic, then it stops being fun. It becomes stupid.

But...his games suck....

And does this mean that he'll somehow over-hype the award as soon as he gets it?

Ummm, really? If he is getting this award according to his work in the past 6 years, then wow, I might as well take up nuclear physics, cause 3 meltdowns and get an award as well.

Also, what someone here said, Tim Schafer is hosting while Molyneux is rewarded? Talk about irony. I would pick Psychonauts and Brutal Legend over any of his games, any day of the week.

I think we're forgetting here, they made Rouge Squadrun....something. I can't remember which one. But it was great!

...Why? If they've only given out 10 of these so far, it seems like there should be a huge list of people far more deserving of this award than mister "I promise the world and deliver a grain of sand." One of them being the man you have hosting the show, for example.

They should end up giving him a lesser award so he can finally feel like fable fans, not getting what was promised.
Now THAT is a good idea.

A few people seem to be missing the point that this is a Lifetime Achievement Award for everything he's done since 1982, that's 29 years ago when people like Tim Schafer or Dan Houser were only 15 or 8 years old and still in school.

They'll get their Lifetime Achievement Awards don't worry, but probably in about 2016 and 2022 when their careers have lasted as long as Peter Molyneux's.

Have patience, you can't rush things like lifetime achievements, they have to occur naturally and coincide with the year the person started their career and what year it is now.

Dear Whiners,

He has been making games since before some of you were even fucking alive. The Fable series only being the most recent.
Populous, Theme Park, Dungeon Keeper, Magic Carpet, Black & White and motherfucking Syndicate represent more innovation in this medium than any other single person I can think of. Few have been around as long (Populous was 1989), and few have such a diverse game resumé.

So whatever your opinion on Fable, know that a lot more was considered.

Sincerely,

Someone Who Has Been Computer-Gaming Since the 80s

I can't think of anyone who deserves it less.
Capcom Mobile [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/106875-Capcom-Accused-of-Exploding-Platformer-Plagiarism] definitely deserves it less.

I don't have any problem with him or anything but I can think of others who would fit the lifetime achievement award much more.
