So Being almost done with college and all that I have to start looking for places to live.... I have some money saved away for this venture so I want someplace nice. Only restrictions are that it has to be close to a metropolitan city as well as herbal laws are not so strict. Being a gamer I'd like to live near other gamers so any suggestions?

The suburbs to Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Gamers are everywhere, so that ain't a concern.
Amsterdam is a big city, so that's fixed.
As for herb, well, it is Amsterdam after all.

I would avoid living in Calgary, Alberta, Canada...

While we do have a nice low crime rate, the city is a cultural wasteland with screwy weather and far to high a population of Wannabe American's, at least for my liking. Essentially, if you wouldn't live in Texas, Calgary probably isn't for you.

My personal choice of ideal "place to live" would be either Vancouver, BC, Canada or Lyon in France.

Lyon is an incredible city with a much more relaxed pace than Paris, full of nice people and better food.

EDIT:

Listen to fenrizz, Amsterdamme would also be a very cool place to live.
