Planetside WAR! Call to Arms!

For those of us with vista, this is quoted from over on the SOE Planetside forums on how to get Vista and PS to play nice with each other.

In order to get planetside to work in Vista you need to do the following: (Info provided by ThePodster)

* Install it
* Run the program compatability wizard and select "Planetside" to run with the following settings:
* Use Windows 95 Settings and Disable the last three visual components
* Turn off the Side Bar

This will get it running (you may get a file error, but click ok and it's fine), but it will be a LOT slower than you're used to. In order to get it back up to speed I recommend stopping several non-essential services (for the duration of your play).

These can be achieved using a script (see below) in a .bat file. Just remember to start them again or reboot after play.

Just to put this out there for the people planning to play the Certs that most of the top players use.....

.....Its a quick responce tactic that works well.

These guys are going to be BR1, they cant even cert half of that stuff. Get a brain.

Or they will come in with full certs seen as it would be a boring fight otherwise and SOE have that power at hand. But hey if they're having to level its something to aim for, ta for the insta-abuse though just trying to help.

Well, you can get up to BR 4 just using the training areas, if you have patience. It's a basic structure to aim for, I suppose.

...Really? People liking Yahtzee is all well and good but I've never gotten the following stuff gathers on the internet. Come on, think of something more entertaining. =)


Oh and the best way to gether Exp is to get HA and find a medium sized fight, or heck a large one, and farm the nearest tower. Of course you need the skill first but you'll pick it up. That and join a big squad and zerg around.

I downloaded the Station Launcher tool to get familiar with PS on a trial in the hope that I'm one of the lucky ones picked...

Just reading through this thread again there seems to be some confusion over where we're going to be playing... I looked but didn't find anything so has there been an official answer for this yet? I think Spin posted that we'd be playing on Gemini which is the live American server but like others who have posted I don't see SOE locking out paying customers, yet having us play in there with the vets would screw up the contest.
