Play Unreal Tournament 3 Free This Weekend

Epic and Valve are offering a free weekend of Unreal Tournament 3 Black [http://store.steampowered.com/agecheck/app/13210/], just the thing for gamers who want to kill some time by killing some people.

Today is the ten-year anniversary of the release of the original Unreal Tournament demo and to mark the moment, Steam users will be able to download and play Unreal Tournament 3 Black all weekend long at no charge. The game can be preloaded now and free play will begin at 4 pm EDT on September 17. (Yes, that's today.)

Unreal Tournament 3 Black consists of the original UT3 along with the free Titan Pack, which features a huge number of enhancements, new environments, game types, weapons, characters, the Titan mutator, the Stealthbender vehicle and more. The bundle also includes more than 50 Steamworks Achievements.

The original Unreal Tournament will be going on sale over the weekend for $1.99 while Unreal Tournament 3 Black and the Unreal Deal Pack [http://store.steampowered.com/sub/683/] will both be listing for 60 percent off until September 27. I hate to sound like I'm in Epic's pocket but deals like these are almost, dare I say it... unreal!

I wish I had a better computer. Also I think I'm the only person in the world who regards this as the greatest entry in the trilogy.

.]That looks brilliant, i got this for the xbox for some stupid reason.
Could have been SO MUCH BETTER if they didn't drop mod support. And now they're skimping out on 360 DLC.

This is the third time they're making a "UT3 WEEKEND COME AND GET IT!!".

Too bad that I had to pirate the game to play Single Player, because I couldn't connect to 95% of the servers, and the ones I could visit were lagtastic.

I might, however, buy UT for $2.

Ohohohoho, you're a clever one Andy.

I always buy things at the wrong time. Bought Unreal Deal pack a few months ago, now this happens. Bought Garry's Mod a few weeks ago, that's now only £3 this week.

Huh, I might break the system by downloading it to my shitty laptop, and keeping it there untill I get my new computer. I hope it will work.
You mean buying the full game? Once you've bought it it's yours, you can download it whenever you want. And as many times, you just can only play it when signed in (obviously)

I have UT3 for both PC and 360. I'd say it is hardly worth the price they're stating, to be honest if you still have 2004, play that it's much better. Unless you only have a 360 in which case it might be worth it.

They have done this offer three times already (well the temp free play anyway) but $2, they must be planning on making a expansion pack with whats this- a decent story mode and a tournement actually being in it?!!

It's okay, admitting the problem is the first step to a cure.

That's Epic for you. They care more for how their game looks than what the consumer really wants. True UT has been one of the best for modding, but that's just them leaving the work in your hands. If Valve had this attitude then the boycotters would have a true gripe. But they don't. Unfortunately for people who haven't tried UT3 yet but want to seize on this, they are in for disappointment when Valve's servers get overloaded again by fanboys plugging up the bandwidth, screwing over the people who haven't even tried it yet.
If you haven't yet, just get UT2004. It works on systems that were built back for Win98, looks practically as good as UT3, and has Assault and a better Onslaught. True you don't get the skateboards, but I call that small change.(Considering you get knocked off one at the slightest bump in the road, I more call them useless)

I had '04 for about a year before '07, and I still prefer '07. Although this doesn't mean I don't prefer '07's onslaught, which I think could be greatly improved. I probably play each UT equally. I'd be playing the original Unreal if a game-breaking glitch didn't let me past the mine level.

If I go download UT3 and connect, am I gonna be epicly pwned by a bunch of vets, and then rage quit and cry in a corner?
If not, I might take advantage of this if it will run on my 8500GT gfx card...

Alright. I think I'm gonna get this just to check out the Titan Pack I've never bothered downloading.

It will, on 800x600 with lower settings. I was playing it with a 7500GT for a while, and the game looked a bit strange, but it still ran fine. Also, no, the last time I tried to look for an online game there was one warfare server with people worse than me. ;) UT3's multiplayer basically shipped dead on arrival.

Also, I'd really hate to "advertise," but the only thing that got me to boot up UT3 in weeks were these maps here: http://holp.beyondunreal.com/

It really makes the game feel like 2K4 and '99 again, and my biggest problem with UT3 was that since everything is so pretty, it's sometimes hard to tell an enemy from the all the other shiny pretty stuff.

Which is why I tend to use brightskins, but I wouldn't want to ruin how pretty this game is with them, and I tend to only do it in things like Quake and CS that look terrible anyway.

But yeah, I bought it, but I run a no-cd glitch and stuff due to the login bullshit they have at the start stopping me from doing anything online.

Oh BTW, Subterrane is a great duel map.
