PlayStation Plus Getting Hotline Miami, Kingdoms of Amalur

Sony is adding Hotline Miami, Kingdoms of Amalur, Shadow of the Colossus and more to the PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection in October.

We're just going to go ahead and say that PlayStation Plus members should pretty much be set for games in October. We say this because Sony has unveiled the titles it will be adding to the service's Instant Game Collection over the course of October and it's a pretty darned impressive assortment. While the company has yet to confirm the dates that each individual game will be joining the Instant Game Collection, next month's additions will include 38 Studio's Kingdoms of Amalur, the PS2 classic Shadow of the Colossus, Telltale's Poker Night 2, the Vita shmup Sine Mora and Hotline Miami. Hotline Miami, of course, is a Cross Buy title so PS Plus members will have access to it on both the PS3 and the Vita.

Obviously, if you have a PS Plus membership and haven't beaten Shadow of the Colossus you should take this as a sign to check that off your to-do list. Once the guilt from that experience subsides you can then move on to whichever game best suits your tastes. Personally, being a bit of an RPG fan and having already sliced, bludgeoned and slaughtered my way through Hotline Miami, I might sit down with Kingdoms of Amalur for a stretch. The misfortunes of <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/127426-38-Studios-Faces-More-Legal-Trouble>38 Studios aside, I hear its <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/9393-Kingdoms-of-Amalur-Reckoning-Review>pretty good. Which titles from the assembled group are you excited to try?

Any place I can go to to find out what's coming out in Europe? We've got Amalur, SotC and Sine Mora already.

Can we just focus on Hotline for a minute, one of the greatest indie games to have been made in recent years.

If you have a PS3 and PS+ you need to get hotline miami, its a gem in a sea of shit and not playing it would be a disgrace to gaming.

Moar OT: Can't wait to finally beat Shadows and Ico, never fished them.

I think Street Fighter X Tekken is out on PS3 PS+ too. I'll go download them now. Can't wait to play me some Katamari.

Kingdoms of Amalur is great, It gets so addictive once your character starts to take shape.

Hotline and SotC on my PS Vita and PS3 respectively makes me a very happy camper. Amalur's demo bored the hell out of me though, but for free I guess I'll give the full game a shot.

Nice. I've been wanting to try Hotline Miami. And I'll take any excuse to play Shadows of the Colossus again.

I really hope you're being sarcastic. I have it for PC and it's one of the most "meh" games I've ever played.

That gives me hope that they'll put DDDA up for us soon. I've wanted to try it.

I already own SotC, but it's cool others are getting it free. I also beat Kingdoms of Hammersmith like four times on the 360, but it's a fun game.

Plus, Ico. Never finished it, lost the disc, now I have access again. And without paying extra.

Ah, I love being a playstation plus member! A great many games I've been interested in for free!
I can divert my game funds to other games in my back list! Huzzah!

PS+ is definitely worth it. This isn't an isolated incident where I got games I've pined after for being a member. It likely won't be the last!

I'm pretty jelly about peopel getting Tekken X SF, and Dark Arisen, and Gianna Sisters free on PS+, though.

for some reason when I saw the words hotline miami and kingdom hearts together there was a couple of second where I thought there was going to be a hotline miami world in kingdom hearts 3.

OT: nice collection of games they are adding.

Odd, that's the exact opposite of how I felt.
It was fun enough, until the plans for my character started to take shape... the game was so easy I got bored.
The story doesn't have much going for it but the gameplay was fun, until yeah, it got to the point where I could no longer take damage or be staggered, and for my other character, everything would be dead before they started attacking me.

Opinions are opinions kid, we can do the whole I hate this game for this reason back and forth all day then one of us is going to get banned, or we can just decide that its NOT worth arguing over weather a game is good or not okay? I enjoyed it for the excessive gore and good story, but it's cool if you don't validate those as good gameplay, some people just see differently. Thanks for telling me my favorite game of this gen sucks :)

EDIT: Also everyone else likes it lol.

Yea the difficulty seems to be a huge point of criticism for the game.

Just curious what kind of direction did you take your character class wise? I was kind of new the RPGs and I made the mistake of trying to upgrade all the skill trees evenly, in doing this I thought the difficulty was just right, but later on I went full sorcerer mode and could 1 hit kill everyone with the meteor thing.

The first was a pure Warrior using hammers, I believe... The second was a combination Mage/Rogue (because I liked the sound of Poison Blink).
I can't remember the specifics of abilities or anything but...

Ah. comprehension issues. I see. Allow me to clarify a little:

I did not say I hated the game. I said it was "meh" in response to a ridiculous statement that not playing it would be a "disgrace" to gaming. "Meh" is a term used in apathy. It's a term deeply rooted in your age group's cultural zeitgeist, in part due to extreme use on The Simpsons. I find it hard to believe you are unfamiliar with the word, but perhaps you believe it is hate in the same way people believe a 9/10 is a bad score.

However, had you stuck to what I had actually said, you could avoid completely false statements like this:

Thanks for telling me my favorite game of this gen sucks :)

I hope this clarification will serve as a lesson, that you might not jump the gun next time and start falsely accusing people.

But then, you went from "That's just your opinion, man!" to "other people agree with me, so I'm validated," so I'm not sure there's going to be much of a lesson learned.

By the way, I'm glad it's popular, but if popularity is at all meaningful, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is one of the greatest games of all time. I doubt you can find even a tenth the fans for Hotline Miami that there are for Blops2, so...Your point?

Another shitty month where I already own the only half decent game among them. I am really starting to wonder why I even have PlayStation plus anymore.

I never found entertainment in the Simpsons, I don't follow scores because I prefer to judge games after playing them, from what i've heard "meh" means have no interest so I did jump the gun boo-hoo. I also bought 8 copies to see if people who were generally interested in other genres (I have a wide range of friends) to see if they would like it, every single one did. But as I said in my previous post everyone has an opinion and I don't think yours is wrong. Also its nice to know 33 year olds still play video games.
