Pokemon Global Link Launches Features for Pokemon X and Y

Pokemon Global Link now has uses with the new Pokemon X and Y games.

The Pokemon Global Link service, first introduced in the previous generation of Pokemon games, has been revamped with new features, including photo viewing, browsing an activity logbook, exchanging PokeMiles for items, and viewing Global Trade Station stats.

Most of the fun in Pokemon X and Y is actually playing the game, whether that means battling, catching Pokemon, or befriending Pokemon in Pokemon Amie, but Pokemon Global Link is a nice online service that lets you view your progress and send online items to your game. To sign up for it, you need to register your Game Sync ID from X or Y found in the Player Search System menu. You can view and share your logbook of activities, such as which starter you picked or trades you've done. Another feature of Pokemon X and Y is the Photo Guy, Phil, who can take photos for you in-game. To start, you can save 12 photos on Pokemon Global Link, but this increases to a maximum of 60 after you gain medals. You can gain medals - classified as adventure, battle, fun, and commemorative - by exploring Pokemon X and Y, battling, playing in Pokemon Amie, and participating in competitions or events.

PokeMiles can be exchanged for items at the PokeMileage Club on Pokemon Global Link. By syncing to your game, the items will be transferred to your copy of X or Y. You build up PokeMiles by walking and doing wonder trades, in which you trade a Pokemon to an unknown trader without knowing what you will receive. The game calculates the distance between you and the other player and converts that to PokeMiles.

There's much more to do in the game than on Pokemon Global Link, but the service is an easy way to keep track of your progress, get more items from the PokeMileage Club, and to see all of your photos in one place.

Pokemon Dream World: The birthplace of battle monstrosities like Ninetails with Drought and Politoad with Drizzle.

I'm great that it's back up now.

From what I've heard, they're not including the Dream World with this.

I'm inclined to say that's wrong though, so there's that.

Oh, and with this, does this mean I can access the GTS in game now? Trying to get a low leveled Phantump, but I can't figure out if there's even the GTS in game (I keep getting a prompt to pick a passer by to trade, instead of something akin to the trade system from Gen V).

The GTS has been available from the start, you just log onto the internet and there is a menu that has the GTS among other things.

OT: This is good news and all, though wonder trades haven't been very fruitful. I like to offer decent Pokemon in hopes I will get lucky where the other person gives me something interesting. Now I have plenty of Pidgeys and Scatterubugs for my efforts. :/

The GTS is usable anywhere at any time as long as you've got an internet connection, it's not restricted to only one center.
On the Player Search Screen, press the button just left of the Wireless button, and go over one screen to the right. Top left button.
The GTS has also been revamped to pull more results from a search, and allows you to search for pokemon you haven't even encountered yet.
If you're searching for something you haven't encountered, you'll need to enter its name in manually by clicking on the Name field, and scrolling all the way to the bottom and tapping on "What Pokemon?".

Is anyone else constantly getting connection errors? I've tried with a few different connections at high strength, but every time I try and make a trade, I'm informed that there's been a connection error, and I have to use the home button to quit the game. The only times that message doesn't appear is when I get a message telling me the Pokemon I want has already been traded. It's really pissing me off.

That, and everyone with a Squirtle expects me to trade my Yveltal for it. So not happening.

Yeah. It should allow trades like that now.

I guess I assumed Dreamworld because they did state they were going to shut the site down and reupload it eventually to accommodate the new Pokemon and all that.

So, I've been trying since like, the fifteenth and the site has been down for maintenance since then. Is that happening for anyone else? I can't connect to get a Game Sync I.D. and I can't connect with my laptop to the global link website after selecting my region/language to register for online battles.

Is the problem on my end or Nintendo's?

Now if only the game sync feature didn't crap out every five minuets. :/
It only does that to me whenever I try to save while Game Sync is on...

OT: Alright! Time to get on the PGL train for the first time... once again... (And every time I get a picture taken... I'm going to say the word "Fresh Prince" for my own referential reasons...)
