I've had an Arcanine in every pokemon game so far. It's my favourite pokemon.

And yeah, I'm looking into the defense against water thing. I'm replacing my metagross with an electric pokemon, I'm on serebii trying to decide which one.

It all looks nice. The only thing I don't understand is the EVs stuff. I never understood anything about that, except that you gain more EV point by battling lots of Pokemon to level yours.

Feraligatr- Evs: 4 hp, 252 atk, 252 spd. Nature: Naive. Item: Leftovers - I'd say give the Leftovers to something more useful and give this an Expert Belt instead.
Arcanine- Evs: 4 hp, 252 atk, 252 spd. Nature: Adament. Item: Flame plate - really useless, replace with Choice Band.
Scizor- Evs: 252 hp, 112 def, 144 spd. Nature: Impish. If possible get an Adamant Scizor - Impish does you few favours. Item: Leftovers
Slowking- Evs: 148 hp, 128 def, 56 satk, 176 sdef. Nature: Bold. Item: Leftovers
Dragonite- Evs: 4 hp, 252 atk, 252 spd. Nature: Adament. Item: Lum berry
Luxray- Evs: 4 hp, 252 atk, 252 spd. Nature: Adament Item: Expert belt

I'd say get rid of Luxray, because it's another physical attacker (and not a very good one) in favour of a physical Wall, and you could try doing the same with Dragonite (go for Choice Specs Salamence, you'll need something to hit hard on the Special side).
You may also find Arcanine to be a weak link, I would personally drop Arcanine in favour of a definitive Lead Pokemon. As this is an offensive team, you'll probably want something fast that can set up Stealth Rock and then disappear quickly.

I may not have played competitive online in about a year, but I have tried my best.

Howl is a poor man's Swords Dance and you'll have a job using it often enough online for it to have an effect. Plus, four attacks is more useful, and a necessity if you choose Choice Band. Recommended is Iron Head.
Looking at that team, perhaps Gliscor to act as an Electric absorber - it also deals with most of Slowking's weaknesses.
Impish / Leftovers / 252 HP / 40 Def / 216 Spe / Sand Veil, with Earthquake / Roost / Knock Off / Stone Edge is my recommendation.

I would suggest a Darkrai, only because of its powers and its 'nightmare' ability.

Nah, most smart trainers always set prerequisites before a battle, the most common being 'no Ubers'. You see, pokemon are given tiers and all Legendaries + Wobbuffet are Ubers because their stats/movesets are unfair against every other pokemon.

+ Wobbuffet lol....tbh I have no idea about competitive pokemon, even though I've played/have evergy generation, though have never completed one (as in fully, as in max pokemon, though I'm really close to doing it on sapphire).

I've seen a lot of people use blissey, but that's cause she's one heck of a tank.

For me competitive pokemon is rather troublesome, I mean what do you do if you don't get the excat nature for your team? Especially for those once in-game pokemon.

From a noob's prespective Kingdra would be pretty awesome.

It's just my criticism on the Expert Belt that stands tall, I just don't like it. It only works on Super Effective hits, which might be hard to come by in some battles. Basically you'll have wasted an item. If you must go with something versatile, make it a Life Orb. If you fear the 10% recoil, stick with Expert Belt.

Also, very important, change the order of pokemon. In this team, lead with Arcanine, if it has intimidate. If not, well, get yourself a good lead. Maybe remove Feraligatr and go with lead Crobat. It'll give you a pokemon that can induce status ailments. Also, you can switch to Scizor, because almost everything that can hurt Crobat, Scizo resists.

I never knew what a life orb was before, but now I've looked it up I'll use it. And the pokemon aren't in any order by the way. So arcanine will go first with intimidate.

If you don't get the exact nature you just breed it with a ditto with the nature you want and the egg is likely to be the same nature as the ditto. So I have a box full of a ditto of every nature.
