Pokemon Sun and Moon Trailer Shows off New Pokemon, Variants, and Antagonists

A new Pokemon Sun and Moon trailer focuses on more new monsters, variants of classic monsters, and the games' antagonists, Team Skull.

Earlier this week [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/168128-More-Pokemon-are-Getting-New-Looks-in-Pokemon-Sun-and-Moon#&gid=gallery_6384&pid=1], images from CoroCoro showed off Alola variants of both Meowth and Marowak, as well as new Pokemon and the primary antagonists for upcoming Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon. In a trailer released today, we got a clearer look at one of the newly revealed Pokemon, along with a few surprises. An online leak of a Raichu variant was confirmed, along with additional new Pokemon.

The new monsters, and the recently revealed Alolan variants, were detailed in an accompanying press release. You can check out the descriptions below.

Wishiwashi
Type: Water
Wishiwashi have a new Ability, Schooling, which no Pok?mon has previously had. Under certain conditions, Wishiwashi will change in battle to their School Form.
Solo Form
A single Wishiwashi is tiny and weak. Measuring just eight inches from nose to tail, Wishiwashi is very small, even for a Pok?mon. Yet the people of the Alola region seem to view it as a terrifying Pok?mon. When it's in danger, Wishiwashi's glistening eyes catch the light and shine out, sending a distress signal to its allies.
School Form
The seemingly weak Wishiwashi is called the demon of the sea because of its ferocious School Form. When Wishiwashi receive a distress signal, they unite in a huge battle formation.

Pyukumuku
Type: Water
Due to their appearance and way of life, Pyukumuku are considered unappealing to tourists. Part-time work pulling Pyukumuku off the beach and chucking them back into the sea is available at tourist beaches. But no matter how far they're thrown, Pyukumuku will always return to the same spot. Pyukumuku have a new Ability, Innards Out, which no other Pok?mon has had before. When this Pok?mon faints, Innards Out lets it dish out a final bit of damage to its opponent, equal to the amount of HP it had left before it received the final blow.

Morelull
Type: Grass/Fairy
Morelull are nocturnal Pok?mon that walk around at night on their leg-like roots. They move because staying in one spot and sucking all the nutrients from the soil would cause surrounding plants to wither. With their roots, they make contact with other Morelull and communicate with one another.

Alolan Meowth
Type: Dark
Meowth is a Pok?mon that did not originally live in the Alola region. They were sent to the royal family of Alola as an offering from another region, and only a select few could have them as partners. It's said that the Meowth that were offered to the royalty lived a life of luxury and pampering, which led them to have a selfish and prideful attitude. This caused Meowth's form to change.

Alolan Marowak
Type: Fire/Ghost
The Marowak in the Alola region take bones and light both ends on fire by rubbing them against their foreheads. Then they spin the bones around! Marowak's rarity and its fearsome appearance when it dances with its bone led the people of Alola to dub it a conjurer and regard it with fear.

Alolan Raichu
Type: Electric/Psychic
The Raichu in Alola have two types-Electric and Psychic-and they are able to wield psychic power. What's more, they can gather their psychic power in their tails and then ride on them to float in the air!

*Read Pyukumuku's description
Okay, so that's a sea-cucumber. Innards-out is in reference to the sea-cucumber's defense mechanism, called Evisceration, where it expels all of its internal organs out through its cloaca at a threat to scare it off.

I can honestly say I never expected Pokemon to do something like that.

Nice to see that Raichu is finally getting some love, although I still prefer how its regular form looks.

I have such mixed feelings regarding the new Alola forms. I'm always okay with the addition of more Pokemon, but for whatever reason the different forms of Pokemon irk me in a weird way. I'm not even sure why! It's not that far out there to think that some Pokemon would begin to evolve/change forms due to there areas and what not. I think it's simply because I don't like seeing a Raichu turn into something I don't care for at all or see other Pokemon like Meowth change. That's just a personal feeling though.

Regardless, seeing more content is always nice, and despite the different forms I'll definitely be picking up Sun and Moon. The game itself looks like an improvement. :D

Team Skull looks so terrible. They look like if Jamie Kennedy tried to make his own villain group in a Pokemon game.

Ha, so much for a "Eclpise" sort of villain group! Also I wonder what their goal are as they don't look like the type who will rule the world, time and space, liberate all caught Pokemon or even destroy everything so that it become "beauty"!

While I liked Aloha Marowak but not so much for Meowth as it's just took a shade of greyish purple and took on a new posture. Granted the anime episode of Pikachu and Meowth meeting their Aloha counterpart will be an interesting one!

They are probably part of the Alola Pokedex, as for the national pokedex they probably share their numbers with the original forms.

ah, okay. makes sense i guess, but i kinda thought that with type changes, they deserved their own national dex numbers. making them the same sorta seems like making all the variations of Eevee seem like they should be the same number too, they're just type variations of the original.

regardless, i'm looking forward to that new Marowak, and my starting fire cat.

I'm not the only one who thinks the lady skull grunt looks like Nonon in her nude beach getup, right?

Don't like how they gave new marowak skinny noodle arms. They look like they're going to snap off lifting that club.

also, Guzma's glasses are top tier. having two different lens shapes is the ultimate evil

What I'd like to know is how you go about getting Alolan forms. Like, Cubone and Exeggcute haven't been shown to have Alolan forms, so what determines which form they evolve into? If you breed a Vulpix, which one will you get?

As far as I can tell if a Pokemon with an Alola form is naturally caught in Alola then it'll get the form. I'm ultimatly not sure how this'll affect breeding though.

I'd say the one that interests me the most is Pyukumuku. It's ability is basically aftermath based on the HP it had when it was KO'ed which mostlyt sucks but if it's fast enough and gets Pain Split it could work quite nicely.

I am not a fan of that Raichu at all. The Alolan forms have been very hit or miss for me (I love the Marowak) but I much prefer Raichu's original form.

Team Skull on the other hand :) I like them. It's nice for the evil team to just be a bunch of thugs for a change, instead of a big professional organisation set out to rule/destroy the world. I always found it a bit odd that so many grown adults would make that their mission in life, as well as talking down to and insulting children. A bunch of low-level thugs is a lot more believable. And their theme is pretty nice!

The Evolutions of Eevee are evolutions, so they should have there own dex number. these new forms are just of existing pokemon and not evolutions, it's the same reason the separate forms of Zygarde and Shaymin don't have there own dex numbers.

that makes a lot of sense. it's closer to the two version of Pyroar (for example) than the different evolutions of Eevee. you'll have to forgive my informed ignorance, i only recently got back into the series, after having only played red and blue (and Catching Them All) so i'm still learning about all the new systems in place.
